“#Frank Stallone Documentary Presents the Case That He’s More Than ‘Rocky’s Brother’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n Frank Stallone is a Golden Globe- and Grammy-nominated artist with three platinum albums who’s also been in more than 75 movies<\/a> and TV shows. Yet many still know him, if they know him at all, as Sylvester Stallone’s brother.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The uphill battle of being the brother of the Rocky<\/em> star is the focus of <\/span>Stallone: Frank, That Is<\/span><\/i>, directed by Derek Wayne Johnson and dropping on January 19. Lots of celebs weigh in for the project (which counts Frank Stallone as one of its producers) to give weight to the idea that this almost-famous star deserves to be more, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Billy Dee Williams, Billy Zane, Richie Sambora, John Oates, and yes, Sly himself. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ahead of the film\u2019s premiere, we chat with Frank Stallone about\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Siblings in the same line of work, no matter what it is, can probably relate to what you’ve been through.<\/b><\/p>\n

Frank Stallone:<\/strong>\u00a0My experience took place on a worldwide scale because my brother was so famous. \u201cNot as good as your brother.\u201d I also had that on my shoulder. I tell people in similar situations to just be who you are. Be the best you can be at what you do. Don\u2019t worry about the other stuff. I got hammered. If I took everything people said about me to heart over the 45 years, it would have been bad. But I had a lot of faith in what I could do. Sly was the same way. Even though he was broke, he believed in himself and <\/span>Rocky<\/span><\/i>. You have to have that belief to be successful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you consider changing your name early in your career?<\/b><\/p>\n

I thought it would have been ridiculous. The die had been cast. People saw me in <\/span>Rocky<\/span><\/i>. They saw me in all these TV shows. Even though there wasn\u2019t social media<\/a> back then, I think I would have gotten hammered worse with the reactions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Frank<\/p>\n

Anyone surprise you by agreeing to participate in the film?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I must admit \u2014 my brother. I\u2019d say the two were Arnold and Sly. Having them meant a lot.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Arnold didn’t just sit down to be interviewed, you worked out together, as seen in the credits. Was that planned?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

I used to go to that Gold\u2019s Gym every day and see Arnold there. It\u2019s where he wanted to do it. I said, \u201cGuys, come to Gold’s Gym at 7 in the morning and do your thing.\u201d I was really happ<\/a>y he participated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Was it difficult to revisit some of the more disappointing moments?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

When I was talking about getting screwed out of my Oscar nomination by a Barbara Streisand song. Then there were certain things about my childhood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What about seeing your late mom Jackie in the film?<\/b><\/p>\n

I haven\u2019t seen the film since my mother passed [in September], so I don\u2019t know how I\u2019ll be when I see it again. I know I\u2019ll be emotional. There are five people who have actually died before the movie comes out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So you say you didn’t see the interviews until you sat down to see the finished product. A lot of people said a lot of nice things about you \u2014 how did it feel?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

After 45 years of being used to people saying bad things about me, that was a nice change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
