In an effort to organize its mess of Minecraft<\/em>-branded game<\/a>s, Mojang is consolidating Minecraft Dungeons<\/em> and Minecraft: Java Edition<\/em> under a unified launcher. The original Dungeons<\/em> launcher no longer works, and to play the game, fans need to log in to Minecraft.net<\/a> and download the Unified Launcher<\/a>. You could also fire up a copy of Java Edition<\/em>, which will download<\/a> the Unified Launcher automatically.<\/p>\n

The Unified Launcher isn\u2019t exactly \u201cnew,\u201d but this is the first time that Minecraft<\/em> fans are forced to use it. Updating to the new Unified Launcher won\u2019t affect your save files on Dungeons<\/em> or Minecraft: Java Edition<\/em>, although you may need to log in to your Mojang or Microsoft after making the update. Also, while the Unified Launcher brings both games together, you still need to<\/p>\n

This change only affects people who purchased Dungeons<\/em> through Minecraft.net. If you play Dungeons<\/em> on the Xbox app through Game Pass or a Microsoft Store purchase, then you\u2019re stuck with the Xbox app. You need to purchase both games through Minecraft.net if you want to start them from the Unified Launcher.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also worth mentioning that Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition<\/em> (formerly Bedrock Edition<\/em>) does not use the Unified Launcher. If you don\u2019t own a copy of Java Edition<\/em>, then you need to log in to Minecraft.net<\/a> and download the Unified Launcher<\/a>!<\/p>\n
