“#How to See Which iPhone App<\/a>s Are Listening to Your Microphone”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you worried that your iPhone apps are listening using your device\u2019s built-in microphone? If so, it\u2019s easy to know for sure\u2014and to revoke microphone access if necessary\u2014by checking a list in Settings. Here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n

First, open the \u201cSettings\u201d app.<\/p>\n

\"Tap<\/p>\n

In \u201cSettings,\u201d tap \u201cPrivacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

In \u201cPrivacy,\u201d tap \u201cMicrophone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

On the next screen, you\u2019ll see a list of installed apps that have previously requested access to your microphone. Each app has a switch beside it. If the switch is \u201con\u201d (green) then the app can access your microphone. If the switch is \u201coff\u201d (or greyed out), then the app cannot access your microphone.<\/p>\n

\"An<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to remove an app\u2019s access to your microphone, tap the switch beside it to turn it off. Likewise, if you\u2019d like to give an app access to your microphone, turn the switch on.<\/p>\n

\"In<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re done, exit \u201cSettings\u201d and your changes will take effect immedia<\/a>tely.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that if you\u2019re running iOS 14 and up, you can tell when an app is using your microphone if there is an orange dot in the status bar in the top right corner of your iPhone screen. (If you see a green dot, that means your camera is in use.)<\/p>\n

If you ever feel that an app is using your microphone when it shouldn\u2019t, simply visit Settings > Privacy > Microphone as detailed above and revoke the app\u2019s access by flipping the switch beside it to \u201coff.\u201d Good luck!<\/p>\n
