<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OW8Kcm6I4E\">https:\/\/t.co\/OW8Kcm6I4E<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 trent.eth (@trent_vanepps) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/trent_vanepps\/status\/1351966529043226626?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 20, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The dollar amount of ETH deposited into the Eth2<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x00000000219ab540356cbb839cbe05303d7705fa\"> contract<\/a> stands at <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roximately $3.75 billion, or 2.5% of Ethereum\u2019s total market cap, with 4,864 unique depositor addresses contributing to the total amount of ETH staked on the new network.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_state_of_Eth2\"><\/span>The state of Eth2<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.ethereum.org\/2021\/01\/20\/the-state-of-eth2-january-2021\/\">post<\/a> titled &#8220;The State of Eth 2,&#8221; Ethereum Foundation researcher Danny Ryan recapped progress made in 2020 and painted a picture of things to come in 2021. <\/p>\n<p>Ryan reports that testing is continuing on the newly-implemented beacon chain, which will serve as the bridge by which ETH1 will communicate with ETH2. He predicts that the first half of the year will be dedicated to research and development of user clients, as upgrade specifications are \u201cvetted and refined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next up is the implementation of shard chains, also known as phase 1 of the ETH2 rollout, which is expected to take place in the latter half of 2021. The<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ethereum.org\/en\/eth2\/shard-chains\/\"> sharding<\/a> of Ethereum will allow the network\u2019s load to be spread across 64 chains, increasing its transaction capacity exponentially and thus ability to scale.<\/p>\n<p>While inspired by promising developments along the road to global adoption, Ryan predicts that even layer-two scaling won&#8217;t enable the current iteration of Ethereum to fully cope with its growing popularity:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is abundantly clear that Ethereum L1 today will not, alone, provide the throughput needed to support the global demand for decentralized applications. Although Ethereum\u2019s current L1 coupled with L2 scalability techniques will help massively in the next 12 months\u2026 Ethereum will continue to see demand outs<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> supply as global adoption continues.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thus far, the Eth2 rollout has been more or less consistent with the roadmap introduced by Ethereum mastermind Vitalik Buterin in Dec. 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Stakers who made the initial deposits are receiving interest up to 21.6% APR on their amount staked. As the interest rate per total amount staked is based on an inverse logarithmic graph, it decreases with the amount of ETH staked.
