“#Ryuichi Sakamoto Diagnosed With Cancer for a Second Time<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Ryuichi Sakamoto has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time in a decade, according to a note<\/a> on the beloved composer\u2019s website. Sakamoto writes that the initial surgery was a success and he will undergo further treatment. \u201cFrom now on, I will be living alongside cancer,\u201d the note reads. \u201cBut, I am hoping to make music for a little while longer.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2014, Sakamoto was diagnosed with throat cancer. He said the following year that treatment had left him \u201cin great shape\u201d\u2014it is now in remission\u2014and in 2017, he returned with the landmark album async<\/em>. In recent years, a flurry of reissues and film scores have cemented the Yellow Magic Orchestra co-founder\u2019s legacy.
