Some sprung for a Peloton, or a new puppy \u2014 but for these friends, it was a trio of alpacas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As far as pandemic purchases, Melanie Hinze and Melanie Ramos\u2019 take the cake. The pals from Germany bought three alpacas, Elvis, Teddy and Puschel in July, and have been documenting the fluffy creatures for their Instagram page<\/a>. Now, their 1,300 followers are going crazy for the human-like animals.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe . . . leave the stressful everyday life behind when we go for a walk with them or when we feed them briefly,\u201d Hinze, who works alongside Ramos at a pharmaceutical company, told Jam Press. <\/p>\n

Their unusual pandemic pets came about after a visit to a small pasture in their hometown of Holm, Germany, where a farmer had been using the three male\u00a0alpacas\u00a0for breeding. They opted to adopt the creatures on the spot.<\/p>\n

Now, the trio has become famous for their mischievous expressions: \u201cWhen they don\u2019t like something, you know it \u2013 and they pull their faces,\u201d said Hinze, who picked out Puschel as the fluffiest, and grumpiest, alpaca.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is always pulling funny faces, when we stop feeding him or when we want him to wait for something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alpacas have long been an internet favorite. The famous \u201cUseless Farm<\/a>\u201d in Ontario, Canada, is packed with alpacas and emus. The silly Canadian pets have racked up millions of views on TikTok, like in one video <\/a>where Michael the alpaca, whose owner calls him a \u201csimple angel,\u201d cutely crowds the camera.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hinze and Ramos agree, and say their own alpacas live up to all the internet hype. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey look so human sometimes,\u201d said Hinze.<\/p>\n

Their expressions \u2014 mainly exasperation and shock \u2014 from not getting the treats they so desire have won the hearts of alpaca fans who can\u2019t get over the snow-white animals\u2019 cartoon-like eyes and mouths.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are beautiful,\u201d wrote one follower on Instagram, while another gushed, \u201cSo cute and they look super happ<\/a>y.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh noooo \u2014 weekend is already over?\u201d reads one caption of an alpaca with its jaw dropped and eyes wide posing in an idyllic field. <\/p>\n

Neighbors call the trio \u201cthe sheep with long legs,\u201d said Hinze.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn every walk we do, all people who meet us are happy and smile,\u201d added the amateur alpaca farmer who parades around her alpacas, and visits with people in need of a little animal therapy. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe visited them with a terminally ill lady and they were so careful when they ate out of her hand or when she wanted to pet them,\u201d said Hinze, who called the alpacas \u201cconsiderate and careful.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
