The new director of the CDC on Sunday said the US doesn\u2019t have enough COVID-19 vaccines to send to New York \u201cas we would like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have as many doses as we would like now for states like New York for other states that are claiming to have run out of vaccine,\u201d Dr. Rochelle Walensky told anchor Chris Wallace on \u201cFox News Sunday.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Walensky predicted that the inadequate vaccine supply will be one of the biggest challenges in the first weeks of President Biden\u2019s term.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that the supply is probably going to be the most limiting constraint early on, and we\u2019re really hoping that after that first 100 days we\u2019ll have much more production,\u201d Walensky said.<\/p>\n

Gov.\u00a0Andrew\u00a0Cuomo on Friday called on Biden \u201cto do whatever he can to increase the supply,\u201d claiming that the Empire State\u2019s\u00a0vaccine stockpile was running so low it \u201cmay already be exhausted.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have 28,000 dosages in the state left from week 1 to 5,\u201d Cuomo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cProblem is, we administer about 80,000 dosages per day. So, 28,000 doesn\u2019t get you through the day when you\u2019re doing 80,000 dosages per day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The state expects to get another 250,000 doses this coming week, in line with what it has been receiving in past weeks. Each state\u2019s allotment is based on population, according to the feds. <\/p>\n

Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday also implored Biden to send more shots \u2014 and to allow states to use supplies designated as second doses as first doses. <\/p>\n

Biden has pledged to\u00a0deliver 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine\u00a0within the first 100 days of his presidency \u2014 but critics have noted that would merely keep the country on its current pace.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
