It\u2019s one of the most popular hypotheticals to be debated in superhero fan circles: who would win in a fight? Superman or Batman? Captain America or Iron Man? Shang-Chi or everybody else? Simu Liu<\/strong>, who is set to make his debut as the first Asian Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero in this year\u2019s\u00a0Shang-Chi and the The Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em><\/strong>, thinks he knows the answer for the latter. And since we haven\u2019t seen any footage yet from the upcoming Marvel Studios film, we\u2019ll just have to take his word for it.<\/p>\n

In an interview\u00a0with\u00a0Toronto Life<\/a>\u00a0(via ComingSoon<\/a>)\u00a0Liu discussed the upcoming\u00a0Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em>, which\u00a0officially wrapp<\/a>ed filming last October after stalling briefly due to COVID-19 production delays. But despite the comic book film being in the can, we still haven\u2019t seen any footage or heard any updates about\u00a0Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em> yet, though Liu\u2019s latest interview seems to suggest the guy is really strong, at least.
\nWhen asked who would win in a fight between himself, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Black Widow, he immedia<\/a>tely claimed Shang-Chi\u2019s victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI win! Shang-Chi. I could debate this as a fan for hours. But now that I\u2019ve got some skin in the game<\/a>, I have to think I could take any of these guys on. Shang-Chi can definitely throw a punch. As for his other skills and powers, you\u2019ll have to wait and see.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Those are bold words!\u00a0But again, we have no idea what to expect from\u00a0Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em>, so we\u2019ll have to take his word for it that \u201cShang-Chi can definitely throw a punch,\u201d and has a few other \u201cskills and powers\u201d in his arsenal.<\/p>\n

Another thing we can expect from the film: Shang-Chi\u2019s outfit will have a lot of zippers! According to Liu, that is:<\/p>\n

\u201cMarvel has never had an Asian lead. So that was such a rare and impactful moment, for me as an actor but also for people who look like me. I nearly cried. It was so emotional. And then of course by the fifth day, I was like, \u2018Oh my god, I hate this thing, why are there so many zippers?<\/i>\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I\u2019m not sure whether this means that Liu\u2019s costume only contained a lot of zippers to get him into the suit, or whether that\u2019s an actual feature of the costume, but I\u2019m hoping it\u2019s the latter so that we can have a very anime<\/a>-looking costume that\u2019s 90% zippers \u00e0 la Tetsuya Nomura\u2019s \u201cstreetwear\u201d-inspired designs in the\u00a0Final Fantasy<\/em> games and\u00a0Kingdom Hearts<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings<\/em> is directed by\u00a0Destin Daniel Cretton<\/strong> and also stars\u00a0Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Meng\u2019er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh. It is set to be released in theaters on July 9, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
