If you want to keep your Gmail inbox tidy, make sure your emails go to the desired inbox tab by creating rules\u00a0(called \u201cfilters\u201d) for them. Here\u2019s how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Manually_Move_Emails_to_Other_Tabs\"><\/span>Manually Move Emails to Other Tabs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google does a pretty great job of sorting emails between the auto-sorted inbox tabs (Primary, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a>, Promotions). But you may want to have one of your favorite <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letters that keeps getting tucked away in the Promotions tab sent to the Primary tab instead so that you never miss it.<\/p>\n<p>Doing this is as easy as dragging and dropping the email from one tab to another. First, log in to your <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gmail.com\">Gmail account<\/a>\u00a0on your desktop. Once you\u2019re logged in, click the inbox tab that contains the email that you want to relocate.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-707308\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Gmail-inbox-tabs.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"224\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next, just drag and drop the email that you want to move to a different tab. For example, if a newsletter <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly goes to the Promotions tab, you might want to move it. It will also ask you if you want to move future messages from the sender to the same tab. However, if you want to do the same for existing emails, you\u2019ll need to create a filter.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create_Email_Filters\"><\/span>Create Email Filters<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can create filters to automatically move emails to different inbox tabs. Here, fill out the criteria for the emails that you want to move:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>From:<\/strong>\u00a0Specify the sender of the email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To:<\/strong>\u00a0Specify the recipient of the email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subject:<\/strong>\u00a0Words in the subject of the email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Has the Words:<\/strong>\u00a0Messages that contain certain keywords.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Doesn\u2019t Have:<\/strong>\u00a0Messages that don\u2019t contain certain keywords.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Size:<\/strong>\u00a0Emails larger or smaller than a certain size (in bytes, KB, or MB).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Has Attachment:<\/strong>\u00a0Emails that contain attachments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t Include Chats:<\/strong>\u00a0Exclude chats from the filter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve input the filter criteria, click \u201cCreate Filter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-707317\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/email-filter-criteria.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"319\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next, you\u2019ll need to specify where to move the email when your criteria are met.
