“#18veno, South Carolina Rapp<\/a>er, Shot Dead at 19<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

South Carolina rapper 18veno was shot dead last night, the York County Coroner\u2019s Office in South Carolina confirmed to Pitchfork. He was was pronounced dead at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. An investigation by the York County Sheriff\u2019s Department is ongoing. 18veno was 19 years old.<\/p>\n

Born Paul Harts, 18veno grew up in Winnsboro, South Carolina after spending the first few years of his life in Washington, D.C. 18veno was inspired by the sounds of Southern trap; he\u2019s cited<\/a> rappers like Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, and Jeezy as early influences. He started rapping in fourth grade and began posting his work publicly a few years later.<\/p>\n

The past year was a pivotal one in 18veno\u2019s career; in 2020 he dropped the five-track R4z<\/em> EP, as well as his debut project Pablo<\/em>, both of which were issued by the South Carolina label BoyMeetSpace<\/a>.<\/p>\n

18veno often worked with artists native to South Carolina; Pablo<\/em> includes a feature from fellow South Carolinian artist PG RA on \u201cCops & Robbers<\/a>,\u201d and his frequent collaborators jetsonmade and Neeko Baby both hail from his home state. \u201cI still don\u2019t think we have the respect we need,\u201d he said of South Carolina artists in an interview with Lyrical Lemonade<\/a> last summer. \u201cWe ain\u2019t on like we\u2019re supposed to be, yet. It\u2019s up to us at this point\u2014it\u2019s up to the artists that SC has right now. I wanna be one of the ones that helps put us on at a worldwide level.\u201d<\/p>\n
