If mistakes were made, as the Biden administration claims, they are Fauci\u2019s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yet, astonishingly, Fauci told CNN Friday that a \u201clack of candor\u201d from the Trump administration had cost American lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But if people\u2019s lives really were at stake last year, why did he wait until now to tell us?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chalk it up to another convenient fib from a habitual fibber, who has deceived us on everything from masks to herd immunity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even if you decide these are not lies but lapses of judgment by Fauci, they had potentially lethal consequences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Take, for instance, Fauci\u2019s serenity back on Jan. 21 last year, when he assured us that the virus convulsing China at the time \u201cis not something the citizens of the United States should be worried about.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, the pandemic caught a lot of people unaware, but the thing about Fauci is that he always is so sure of himself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The following week, he was at it again, vehemently opposing Donald Trump\u2019s proposed flight ban from China, which Biden at the time decried as \u201cxenophobia.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was Jan. 28, and Trump had asked his trade adviser, Peter Navarro, into the Situation Room to convince Fauci and other officials that the China <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> ban would save lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guy I fought the most that day was Fauci,\u201d Navarro told me Sunday. \u201cHe was adamantly opposed to the travel ban. All he kept saying was travel restrictions don\u2019t work.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Navarro pushed back, \u201c\u2009\u2018If you stop 20,000 Chinese nationals coming in every day and some are infected, you\u2019re telling me that\u2019s not going to spread the virus?\u2019 It was like talking to a brick wall.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The next day, Navarro wrote a memo outlining three options: If you do nothing and there\u2019s no danger, that\u2019s OK; if you do the travel ban and there\u2019s no danger, you lose a few million dollars; but if you do nothing and there is danger, the risk is a million American lives and more than $2 trillion in damages.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI papered everybody in the task force with the memo and . . . it flipped everyone to supporting the president,\u201d Navarro said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"671\" alt=\"Former White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro claims Dr. Fauci originally was against the China travel ban.\" class=\"wp-image-17140544 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/AFP_1V42OZ.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/AFP_1V42OZ.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/AFP_1V42OZ.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/AFP_1V42OZ.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/AFP_1V42OZ.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2048 2048w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Former White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro claims Dr. Fauci originally was against the China travel ban.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Photo by SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trump imposed the travel ban on Jan. 31 and Fauci later credited the action with saving lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But, says Navarro, \u201cIf Biden had been president and Fauci had been the top adviser, we would probably have a million more Americans dead.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then there was Fauci\u2019s advice on masks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back in March, when the coronavirus was decimating New York, he told us masks were useless.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks,\u201d he told \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Three months later, he did a backflip: \u201cMasks work . . . to prevent you from infecting someone else . . . but also, it can protect you to a certain degree.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Posing by his pool in sunglasses and novelty socks last June, Fauci told InStyle magazine he had no regrets about lying:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were told . . . we have a serious problem with the lack of PPEs and masks for health providers [and decided] we really need to save the masks for the people who need them most.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a noble lie, so he didn\u2019t feel the need to apologize or even be slightly ashamed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But nothing was more corrosive of public trust in medical experts at the height of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If Fauci lied about masks, what else would he lie about?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Turns out he lied about herd immunity, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In December, Fauci admitted to The New York Times that he had \u201cslowly but deliberately been moving the goal posts\u201d on the percentage of the population that needed to be vaccinated before \u201cherd immunity\u201d against \u00adCOVID-19 was reached.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent. Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, \u2018I can nudge this up a bit,\u2019 so I went to 80, 85,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fauci is not precise with numbers, which is odd for a scientist who professes to care about facts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For instance, on Biden\u2019s first day last week, Fauci said we would have \u201c100 million people vaccinated in the first 100 days\u201d and specified he meant both \u201cprimary and boost\u201d shots, a total of 200\u2009million shots in arms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, he was forced to \u201cclarify that, because there was a little bit of a misunderstanding. What we\u2019re talking about is 100\u2009million shots in individuals.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 100 million goal is fake anyway, since we\u2019re already there. In the week before the inauguration, 912,000 shots were administered per day, according to Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\u2019 tracker. On Inauguration Day, it was 1.6 million shots.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fauci last week gushed about how \u201cliberating\u201d it was to work for Biden now. \u201cOne of the new things in this administration is: If you don\u2019t know the answer, don\u2019t guess. Just say you don\u2019t know the answer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That would suit Fauci because, for an expert, he never seems to know the answer to anything.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cuos_%E2%80%98cocky_crock\"><\/span>Cuo\u2019s \u2018cocky\u2019 crock<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Gov. Andrew Cuomo was engaging in his favorite pastime Friday, boasting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever get cocky with COVID\u201d he said, proud of the catchy alliteration.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTruer words were never spoken. I\u2019ll take credit for that quote.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maybe he should have taken his own advice before he accepted an Emmy and wrote a book congratulating himself for the nation\u2019s worst COVID response.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what you call cocky, in every sense of the word.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
