\nWow, this breakup really hit\u00a0Ben Affleck<\/strong> hard!<\/p>\n

As we\u2019ve been reporting,\u00a0Ana De Armas<\/strong> broke up with the\u00a0Way Back<\/em> actor following nearly a year of dating after meeting on the set of an erotic thriller called\u00a0Deep Water<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Since his divorce, the once and future Batman has had his share of romances \u2014 and, as follows, breakups \u2014 but this seems different somehow. We certainly didn\u2019t see him lose, conservatively, 40 lbs after ending things with that\u00a0Playboy<\/em> model. Obviously, we can\u2019t know for sure the Justice League<\/em>\u00a0star\u2019s weight loss is over the breakup \u2014 he could be altering his look for a role.<\/p>\n

But a new source speaking to\u00a0The Mirror<\/em> over the weekend seems to back up the notion that the actor-writer-director is really hurting. The insider says:<\/p>\n

\u201cBen accepts he would be better off being single for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Aw, really? The source continues:<\/p>\n

\u201cUnless there\u2019s some miracle and Ana comes back asking for another chance. He is really focused on prioritizing himself and his kids rather than relationships, and his friends have been joking about him taking an oath of celibacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

An oath of celibacy?! Say it ain\u2019t so!<\/p>\n

The insider adds, noting Ben\u2019s, er, prolific dating history:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether or not he can stay single for long remains to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At least he has some backup. According to the source, Affleck\u2019s inner circle agree with the course of action, urging him to \u201cwork on himself\u201d and \u201cstop rushing into very intense relationships, which implode as soon as the honeymoon\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n

Implode\u2026 indeed that\u2019s what seems to have happ<\/a>ened with Ana. We\u2019ve still been trying to peg down the exact reason for the split (which reportedly happened over the phone \u2013ouch!) as sources seem to be a little hazy.<\/p>\n

For instance we\u2019ve heard Ana wanted to do more travel<\/a>ing once the pandemic was over, something Ben can\u2019t really do because he\u2019s a responsible father of three who doesn\u2019t want to be apart from his kids. But we\u2019ve\u00a0also<\/em> heard the\u00a0Knives Out<\/em> star is the one who wants to settle down and get hitched \u2014 and pop out her own babies with the star. However, the 48-year-old, who has already been down that road, wasn\u2019t in the same place in his life and wasn\u2019t ready to do all that again. Hmm.<\/p>\n

Not to mention we\u2019d heard the split was \u201camicable\u201d and gradual and even mutual \u2014 but the sight of a cardboard cutout of Ana being shoved headfirst into the trash can outside Ben\u2019s house made the whole thing seem a lot more heated.<\/p>\n

Whatever happened, it seems the \u201choneymoon\u201d with Ana was something it will take Ben a long time to get over. Do YOU think he\u2019ll actually stay single for long??<\/p>\n
