“#Rangers send Filip Chytil home after hard collision<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Filip Chytil was transported back to New York first thing Monday morning to see doctors after suffering an upper-body injury from a hard collision halfway through the Rangers\u2019 3-2 loss in Pittsburgh the night before.<\/p>\n

Head coach David Quinn didn\u2019t elaborate on the severity of the 21-year-old center\u2019s injury, but it\u2019s more than likely he will miss at least the next two game<\/a>s in Buffalo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we do lose him for an extended period of time it is going to be a blow,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cBut every team in the league is suffering injuries and we\u2019re no different. I mean, that\u2019s pro sports, certainly it\u2019s the National Hockey League.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got to have guys pick up the slack if he is out for an extended period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the Rangers up 1-0 in the second period Sunday, Chytil carried the puck into the Penguins\u2019 zone before he crashed into Pittsburgh forward Evan Rodrigues. Both players went down hard and were slow to get up. Chytil remained on the bench for a bit, but was clearly shaken up. He ultimately went to the locker room and did not return.<\/p>\n

Chytil, who is in his fourth season with the Rangers, has been the backbone of the team\u2019s offensive production, with two goals and an assist through the first five games of the season. He seemingly took the largest developmental step compared to some of the other young players on the team, and was just beginning to find a rhythm with his linemates in Phil Di Giuseppe and Kaapo Kakko.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re talking about doing a lot of different [lineup combinations]\u2026we\u2019ll see [Tuesday] what it\u2019s going to look like,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to look different obviously without Fil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about the possibility of getting taxi squad defensemen Anthony Bitetto and Libor Hajek<\/a> into the lineup anytime soon, Quinn admitted it\u2019s been a topic of conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is challenging, we certainly do talk about getting those guys in,\u201d Quinn said. \u201cIt\u2019s five games into it, we\u2019ve got to continue to find a way to keep these guys sharp and in great shape.<\/p>\n
