\nKeira Knightley<\/strong> is ready to flip the script<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> star says she\u2019s done doing nudity in movies<\/a> \u2014 well, mostly.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Chanel Connects<\/em> podcast, the 35-year-old mother of two revealed that shortly after having her first child she put a strict \u201cno nudity clause\u201d in her film contracts. However, there is some leeway there when it comes to working with certain directors:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have an absolute ban [on filming nude scenes], but I kind of do with men. It\u2019s partly vanity and also it\u2019s the male gaze.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Keira has been fairly open with her body, appearing partially nude or engaged in sexual activity in a number of films throughout her career, including The Hole<\/em>,\u00a0Domino<\/em>, Atonement<\/em>, A Dangerous Method<\/em>,\u00a0Colette<\/em>, The Aftermath<\/em> \u2014 all of which were directed by men.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s just not what she\u2019s interested in portraying anymore. And while she acknowledges nudity is not inherently a problem in films she just personally would like to stay away from \u201cthose horrible s*x scenes where you\u2019re all greased up and everybody is grunting\u201d:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not interested in doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thankfully we\u2019d say Keira has mostly avoided that. Her scenes in\u00a0Atonement<\/em>, for instance, were tasteful and artistic and not at all \u201cgreased up.\u201d<\/p>\n

But even the more prurient scenes aren\u2019t necessarily offensive to the actress, they just aren\u2019t for her:<\/p>\n

\u201cSaying that, there\u2019s times where I go, \u2018Yeah, I completely see where this s*x would be really good in this film and you basically just need somebody to look hot,\u2019 so therefore you can use somebody else. Because I\u2019m too vain, and the body has had two children now, and I\u2019d just rather not stand in front of a group of men naked.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It has been noted by many film critics in recent years how differently male and female directors tend to film both intimacy and the female form. And one need not look for obscure films to see examples.<\/p>\n

Take the way the Amazons were envisioned by\u00a0Patty Jenkins<\/strong> for\u00a0Wonder Woman<\/em> and later that year by\u00a0Zach Snyder<\/strong> for\u00a0Justice League<\/em>. World of difference.<\/p>\n
