Actor Elliot Page has filed for divorce from wife Emma Portner, new court records show.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old \u201cJuno\u201d star \u2014 who recently came out as transgender \u2014 filed for a contested divorce Tuesday in Manhattan Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

Portner, 26, a professional dancer and choreographer, publicly supported Page\u2019s decision, saying she was \u201cso proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTrans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,\u201d Portner said in an Instagram post from Dec. 1. \u201cI also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot\u2019s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

The divorce comes just three years after the pair married in January 2018.<\/p>\n
