“#New Godzilla vs. Kong and Malignant Release Dates Revealed \u2013 \/Film<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Even though Warner Bros.\u00a0just<\/em> announced a new release date for\u00a0Godzilla vs. Kong<\/em><\/strong>, they\u2019ve decided to go ahead and move it again. But don\u2019t worry \u2013 the move isn\u2019t that drastic. Instead of hitting theaters and HBO Max on March\u00a026,\u00a02021, as was announced last week,\u00a0Godzilla vs. Kong<\/em> will now arrive on\u00a0March 31<\/strong>. Why move it back five days? No idea! But we have some guesses.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, WB also revealed the release date for James Wan<\/strong>\u2018s return to horror,\u00a0Malignant<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 September 10<\/strong>. The release date comes with an image from the film, and a message from the director.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s get the\u00a0Godzilla vs. Kong<\/em> news<\/a> out of the way first. The upcoming monster battle royale was originally slated for May 2021. Then, last week, WB said they were moving the film to March 26. Today, for reasons I can\u2019t even begin to understand, the studio has moved it again \u2013 to March 31, 2021. I\u2019m not sure why WB thinks it needs to delay this by five days, but it\u2019s their call to make. One theory floating around is that the fabled Snyder Cut of\u00a0Justice League<\/em> might be arriving in March and the studio wants to make some room for that, but we have no confirmation of that theory at the moment.\u00a0In any case, the plan is still to release\u00a0Godzilla vs. Kong<\/em> in theaters and on HBO Max the same day.<\/p>\n

Now, onto\u00a0Malignant<\/em>. I\u2019m a big fan of James Wan, and while I\u2019ve enjoyed his non-horror work \u2013 I love me some\u00a0Aquaman<\/em>, folks \u2013 I\u2019ve been longing for him to return to the horror genre. And thankfully he\u2019s doing just that with\u00a0Malignant<\/em>, his first horror film since 2016\u2019s\u00a0The Conjuring 2<\/em>. Plot details for\u00a0Malignant<\/em> remain secretive, but it\u2019s been reported that the film will pay homage to the stylish and gory Giallo genre. And now, James Wan has unveiled an image from the film that certainly looks Giallo-esque, featuring a long sharp weapon in a leather-gloved hand.<\/p>\n

On Instagram, Wan posted the following message:<\/p>\n

I finally wrapp<\/a>ed it last week. This was supposed to be my \u201clittle horror thriller\u201d I do between the big ones, but the pandemic pushed it as long the big ones. I\u2019m super excited for this film. I don\u2019t even know how to describe it. I wanted to do something original and genre-bending, and different to my other work, but still in the spirit of the horror-thrillers I grew up with. More to come.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The image comes with the news that\u00a0Malignant<\/em> will hit theaters and HBO Max on September 10<\/strong>, and honestly, I don\u2019t know if I can wait that long.<\/p>\n
