A plainclothes NYPD cop was shot in the Bronx<\/a> on Tuesday night, police sources said.<\/p>\n

The male officer, assigned to the Gun Violence Suppression Division, was struck in the back during the shooting near Lafayette Avenue and White Plains Road in Soundview at about 10:30 p.m. police and sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A 24-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police recovered a gun under a vehicle near the scene, sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The wounded cop, who sources said was wearing a vest, was taken in a police vehicle to Jacobi Hospital. He is listed in stable condition, police said.<\/p>\n
