The rise was down to Apple\u2019s diversification strategy, which has seen the company expand into digital and subscription services and potentially into electric cars in the future, said London-based brand valuation consulting firm Brand Finance.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Apple<br \/>\n        AAPL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202934861\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.17%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       became the first U.S. company to reach a $2 trillion market cap in August last year. It is also expected to post its largest ever quarterly revenue total and its first ever total above $100 billion when it reports earnings on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Apple reclaims the title of the world\u2019s most valuable brand from Amazon five years since it last held the top spot, we are witnessing it Think Different once again. From Mac to iPod, to iPhone, to iPad, to Apple Watch, to subscription services, to infinity and beyond,\u201d said Brand Finance Chief Executive David Haigh.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s<br \/>\n        AMZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/210331248\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.98%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       brand value grew 15% to $254.2 billion, in a year that has seen the e-commerce giant benefit from stay-at-home orders around the world and surging demand. The company has also innovated and expanded in recent months, launching an online pharmacy store as well as the Halo fitness tracker. Earlier this month, Amazon bought its first fleet of planes, from airlines Delta and WestJet, to expand its airfreight network. However, the company lost its top spot to Apple.<\/p>\n<p>Tech giant Google<br \/>\n        GOOG,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205453964\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.94%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       has the third-highest brand value, edging 1.4% higher to $191.2 billion, while rival Microsoft<br \/>\n        MSFT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207732364\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.22%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       stayed in fourth with a brand value of $140.4 billion, a 20% rise, and conglomerate Samsung<br \/>\n        005930,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209800866\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.58%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       kept hold of fifth spot. Retailer Walmart<br \/>\n        WMT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/207374728\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.90%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       jumped two places to sixth, while <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> company Facebook<br \/>\n        FB,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205064656\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.45%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       stayed in seventh.<\/p>\n<p>In a year dominated by COVID-19, technology and innovation helped drive the value of the world\u2019s largest brands, with ride-hailing app Uber<br \/>\n        UBER,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/211348248\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-4.37%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Chinese e-commerce platform Meituan<br \/>\n        3690,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205161725\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-2.11%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       enjoying strong growth.<\/p>\n<p>But Tesla<br \/>\n        TSLA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203558040\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.26%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       was the fastest-growing global brand in terms of value last year, jumping 158% to $32 billion. Brand Finance said record sales numbers, a production ramp-up and expansion into new markets helped boost the electric-car maker\u2019s brand.<\/p>\n<p>While some sectors have performed well, others have endured a difficult year. Airline and aerospace brands accounted for six of the 10 fastest-falling brands: Boeing<br \/>\n        BA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/208579720\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.64%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       American Airlines<br \/>\n        AAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209207041\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.65%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       United Airlines<br \/>\n        UAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/205037281\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+2.15%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Delta<br \/>\n        DAL,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200327741\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+1.08%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       Airbus<br \/>\n        AIR,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/208224336\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.49%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Safran<br \/>\n        SAF,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/206963350\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+1.74%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span><br \/>\n       Hotels also had a tough 2020 due to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> restrictions and lockdown measures, with Hilton\u2019s<br \/>\n        HLT,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202780307\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.43%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       brand value falling 30% to $7.6 billion, while Marriott<br \/>\n        MAR,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200170042\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.69%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       dropped out of the top 500 altogether, along with Airbnb<br \/>\n        ABNB,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/222990650\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+8.57%<\/bg-quote><span>.<\/span>\n      <\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> What will happen to airfares in 2021?<\/p>\n<p>A brand\u2019s value is the economic benefit it would achieve if it was licensed in the open market, according to the consulting firm. <\/p>\n<p>The combined value of the 21 U.K. brands among the world\u2019s top 500 fell 11% year-over-year, making it the worst-performing country, as Brexit uncertainty and the COVID-19 pandemic hit the economy. Oil major Royal Dutch Shell<br \/>\n        RDSA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/206428183\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.90%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       kept its place as the U.K.\u2019s most valuable brand but dropped 11% to $42.2 billion, while second-placed rival BP<br \/>\n        BP,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/202286639\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.61%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 8% to $21.4 billion. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the vaccine rollout advances it will be interesting to see which British brands thrive and which will flounder while navigating a future outside the European Union,\u201d Haigh said.<\/p>\n<p>The index also includes brand strength, which is calculated as the efficacy of a brand\u2019s performance relative to its peers.<\/p>\n<p>Chinese mobile app WeChat replaced car maker Ferrari<br \/>\n        RACE,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/208128355\/composite\" class=\"negative\">-0.79%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       as the world\u2019s strongest brand.
