We have made the decision to support BioNTech<br \/>\n        22UA,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/222361179\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-2.87%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       and Pfizer<br \/>\n        0Q1N,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203243414\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+1.36%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       in manufacturing their COVID-19 vaccine in order to help address global needs, given that we have the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> and facilities to do so,\u201d Hudson added.<\/p>\n<p>Shares in Sanofi inched 0.68% higher on Wednesday in early European trading. <\/p>\n<p>BioNTech and Pfizer have said they can produce <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/us-health-coronavirus-vaccine-biontech-idUSKBN29G1DM\" class=\"icon none\">2 billion doses in 2021<\/a>, but demand has outs<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a>ped supply as mass immunization campaigns have started in countries worldwide, including the U.K., the U.S. and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the two companies said they needed to temporarily cut supplies to the European Union in order to increase production in the future. U.K.-Swedish drug company AstraZeneca<br \/>\n        AZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/203048482\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-1.01%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       which has developed its vaccine with the University of Oxford, warned on Friday that\u00a0it would not be able to fulfil its contractual obligations with the bloc and deliver the 100 million doses promised by the end of March, due to problems at a manufacturing site.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Read:<\/strong> Vaccine nationalism: Germany suggests EU should restrict the export of Pfizer\u2019s vaccine <\/p>\n<p>The delays prompted the EU, which has ordered <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_21_9\" class=\"icon none\">600 million doses<\/a> of the Pfizer\u2013BioNTech shot, to say that it might restrict exports of vaccines made in the bloc.<\/p>\n<p>Pascal Soriot, chief executive of AstraZeneca<br \/>\n        AZN,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/200304487\/composite\" class=\"positive\">+0.80%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       defended its rollout of its vaccine, saying that his team was working \u201c24\/7 to fix the very many issues of production of the vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"cx-membership-tile\"><\/div>\n<p>In an interview with Italian <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>paper<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.repubblica.it\/cronaca\/2021\/01\/26\/news\/interview_pascal_soriot_ceo_astrazeneca_coronavirus_covid_vaccines-284349628\/\" class=\"icon none\"> La Repubblica<\/a>, published on Wednesday, Soriot said production was \u201cbasically two months behind where we wanted to be,\u201d adding that the EU\u2019s late decision to sign contracts had given limited time to iron out supply issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve also had teething issues like this in the U.K. supply chain. But the U.K. contract was signed three months before the European vaccine deal.
