\n Top Democrats are warning the faithful not to get too comfortable about the party\u2019s chances in the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n

Though President Trump is mired in the COVID-19 pandemic, economic upheavals and racial unrest, that alone may not spell victory for former Vice President Joe Biden in November, they warn.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t be complacent or smug or suggest that somehow it\u2019s so obvious that this president hasn\u2019t done a good job,\u201d Obama told thousands of donors online in his first joint fundraiser with Biden. \u201cHe won once, and it\u2019s not like we didn\u2019t have a good clue as to how he was going to operate the last time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The party remains scarred by rosy 2016 poll numbers that showed Hillary Clinton cruising to victory in states like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania \u2014 which ultimately went for Trump by razor-thin margins and helped swing the election. Just weeks before the vote, The New York Times declared Clinton had a 91% chance of becoming president.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the election were held today, I think Biden would win Michigan,\u201d Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell said. \u201cBut the Trump supporters are out there, and they\u2019re still intense.\u201d<\/p>\n
