Beastie Boys\u2019 Mike D is auctioning off some of his Beastie Boys memorabilia<\/a> for charity, including platinum sales plaques and an MTV Video Music Award for the group\u2019s \u201cIntergalactic\u201d short. See more below, and view the items on offer here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rapp<\/a>er\u2019s mother, Hester Diamond, had previously been in possession of the trophies\u2014in an Instagram post, he explained that he\u2019d always given her the awards, but that she had passed away in 2020. \u201cI was never comfortable holding onto or looking at these awards\/accolades that we got through the years,\u201d he wrote on Instagram.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Proceeds benefit the Good Eats Program<\/a>, which provides free weekend meals to children experiencing food insecurity. In addition to the souvenirs from her son, Hester Diamond had her own vast art collection valued at $30 million<\/a> and auctioned off late last year. In 2020, Beastie Boys released a career-retrospective greatest hits album, documentary, and photo book.<\/p>\n
