Rachel Lin<\/a>dsay<\/a> is giving Matt James critics a black eye.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Blasting \u201cBachelor\u201d buffs for browbeating this season\u2019s golden boy into giving his final red rose to a black woman, the former Bachelorette said fans can\u2019t comprehend the \u201cpressure\u201d he\u2019s feeling as the first black Bachelor<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[People] don\u2019t understand unless you\u2019re in the seat, the pressure that is on you from America,\u201d Lindsay, 35, vented to Andy Cohen on Radio Andy on Sirius XM<\/a> Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut then also as being black,\u201d Lindsay, the first black Bachelorette<\/a>, continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlack America\u2019s looking at you, and they\u2019re trying to decide, they\u2019re telling you who they think you should pick, or you know, what they want to see from you. And you\u2019re just trying to find love at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

James, who identifies as half white and half black, kicked off his debut as Season 25\u2019s red-hot heartthrob lamenting the pressure he felt about being the first Bachelor of color.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom is white, and my dad is black, and I experienced what it was like to be a product of interracial marriage,\u201d the 29-year-old real estate broker-turned-prime time TV bae told show host Chris Harrison during the premiere episode on January 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s tough, because you\u2019ve got people who have certain views, old-school views on what a relationship and what love looks like,\u201d James added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got people who are cheering for you to find love. And then you\u2019ve got people who are cheering for you to end up with a specific person, a specific person of a specific race.\u201d<\/p>\n

James said he worried about being strong-armed into selecting a sweetheart of a certain hue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s something that kept me up at night. It\u2019s like, I don\u2019t want to piss off black people, I don\u2019t want to piss off white people, but I\u2019m both of those. You know what I mean? It\u2019s like, how do I please everybody?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lindsay married her \u201cBachelorette\u201d Season 13 dreamboat, Bryan Abasolo, 41. She empathized with James for facing \u201ca lot of criticism for expressing\u201d his feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a conversation with Chris Harrison on the show . . . expressing how he feels about the situation,\u201d Lindsay explained to Cohen during their broadcast this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI told Matt this as well, like, \u2018Before you come onto the show, you just have to understand that people are going to be critical of your decision no matter what.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you\u2019re making a decision for you . . . you\u2019re determining your future and you have to live this life. So you have to be comfortable with who it is that you\u2019re going to choose,\u2019\u2009\u201d the \u201cExtra\u201d correspondent said, adding that she advised him to \u201ccancel out all the outside noise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lindsay also noted that James\u2019 color conundrum comes on the heels of both her and Season 16 Bachelorette Tayshia Adams choosing men outside of their race.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think for Matt it\u2019s even harder, because there\u2019ve been three leads of color, you know, that are black and very recent. I went, I didn\u2019t pick someone who was black,\u201d she asserted.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we had Tayshia, who\u2019s black and Latina. She didn\u2019t pick someone black,\u201d Lindsay said of Adams, 30, who is engaged to Zac Clark.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNow we have Matt James. And I feel like the pressure is on him. People are like, \u2018OK, the other leads of color we\u2019ve had, haven\u2019t picked a Bback person. So are you going to do that?\u2019\u2009\u201d said Lindsay.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd people are already writing his future for him, saying he\u2019s not because of what I did and what Tayshia did. And I don\u2019t think that that\u2019s fair. I think he has it even harder than we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

James recently doubled down on the \u201cpressure\u201d he feels to marry one of his melanin-boasting Bachelor beauties.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not gonna lie and say there\u2019s no pressure, because, listen, I\u2019m a black man and I\u2019m well aware of the place that race plays in our society,\u201d he said on the \u201cTamron Hall\u201d show Wednesday.\u00a0\u201cAnd I\u2019m on \u2018The Bachelor\u2019 to get to know a whole host of people. And I\u2019m making time to get to know everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, James made it clear he\u2019s going into his search for love fully color-blind.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m looking for isn\u2019t specific to a certain race. There\u2019s qualities that I\u2019ve found endearing, and a whole host of people that I\u2019ve been with in the past, whether that\u2019s black women, Middle Eastern women, Asian women, white women, and I just hope people are as open to that idea as I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
