\n Kautilya Katariya, a computer whiz from the UK, became the youngest qualified computer programmer in the world<\/a> last year at just six-years-old after taking a series<\/a> of computer lessons including AI courses from IBM.<\/p>\n

When I was six, I thought action figures with Kung-Fu grip were the epitome of technology<\/a>. Katariya currently has at least six different certifications across AI and data science<\/a> and what\u2019s sure to be a sky\u2019s-the-limit career in the STEM world.<\/p>\n

Per an IBM blog post<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Leading up to his world record, Kautilya began reading IBM\u2019s course materials to help him understand computer programming and Python language concepts. Due to COVID-19\u2019s impact and the need to stay at home, taking the courses was one way that Kautilya, with his parents\u2019 support, was able to spend time learning new skills.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That kind of makes learning to make sourdough bread seem small by comparison doesn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

Quick take:<\/strong> This is a lovely feel-good story on the surface, but if you peel back a few layers\u2026 it\u2019s even better. Winning a Guinness World Record is an amazing feat, but the real story here is how accessible coding\/programming has become to the entire world.<\/p>\n

Plenty of kids have learned to code at a young age, but Katariya\u2019s the youngest to achieve the certification levels they did. And that just goes to show you that anyone with an internet connection and a curious mind can learn something as complex as coding for artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

Kautilya received five certifications in Python and AI from IBM in November 2020. He completed IBM\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Foundations of AI<\/a>\u00a0professional certification on\u00a0edX<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Python for Data Science<\/a>\u00a0course from\u00a0IBM Cognitive Class<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
