{"id":166700,"date":"2021-01-30T05:42:25","date_gmt":"2021-01-30T02:42:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/nyc-clubs-facing-a-reckoning-post-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2021-01-30T05:42:25","modified_gmt":"2021-01-30T02:42:25","slug":"nyc-clubs-facing-a-reckoning-post-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/nyc-clubs-facing-a-reckoning-post-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"#NYC clubs facing a reckoning post-pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#NYC clubs facing a reckoning post-pandemic<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/coronavirus\/\">pandemic<\/a> has brought the hospitality industry to its knees, and some of the city\u2019s hottest clubs won\u2019t return. <\/p>\n<p>But a nightlife insider told us that the writing was on the wall for some of the city\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/05\/29\/1oak-founders-zoomfest-attracts-paris-hilton-g-eazy-more\/\">most famed spots<\/a> even before coronavirus hit. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[1Oak] was in a tough place before the pandemic. A lot of groups were having a hard time paying bills even then\u2026 1Oak had a great run, but at the end, it was more Up &amp; Down [its sister club] that had the issues. It all became harder for these places to make money and now the lights are out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>1Oak owner Richie Akiva, however, is more optimistic about the scene after the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think Up &amp; Down will survive the pandemic, but 1Oak will come back in full force,\u201d he said. \u201cIf [Up &amp; Down] does have to close, I hope to open it up again at some point. They are dependent on these clubs for work, so they fear they won\u2019t get hired again. If they talked they are screwed\u2026 coming out of this, it\u2019s important for [nightlife] people, who do find themselves in this situation, to protect themselves fiscally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One promoter, Egor Covalciuc, publicly called out Public Hotel owner Ian Schrager on Instagram, by asking: \u201cI wonder if u are planning to pay people at public arts\/hotel those who did multiple parties at your venue? u guys owe s\u2013t ton of money to everyone.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Public Arts is the nightclub in the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Covalciuc told Page Six, \u201cI was hosting the parties \u2014 when Public Arts owed me money for hosting three or four nights \u2014 they paid most of the time, but the last three or four checks were never paid, and the checks were before the pandemic started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reps for Schrager did not comment.\n            <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
