The Tony Awards will indeed go on! <\/p>\n

While no official date has been set for the 74th annual Tony Awards ceremony, Tony voters will cast their ballots from Mar. 1 to Mar. 15, Deadline reports<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Broadway League, which produces the Tony Awards along with the American Theatre Wing, announced the nominations last October.<\/p>\n

At the time, awards officials said the virtual ceremony would happ<\/a>en sometime in 2020. <\/p>\n

But as the year dragged on, that timeline became less and less feasible, <\/p>\n

The pandemic\u2019s shuttering of theatrers has also shortened the list of nominees. <\/p>\n

In one extreme example, Aaron Tveit from \u201cMoulin Rouge! The Musical\u201d is the only actor nominated in the category of Leading actor in a musical. <\/p>\n

With the year anniversary of the Broadway shutdown (Mar. 12) looming, both organizations announced that they intend to have the ceremony closer to the time when Broadway will reopen, which now stands at June of 2021. <\/p>\n

The Broadway League and American Theatre wing ruled that shows that were open before Feb. 19 are eligible for consideration. <\/p>\n

But shows such as \u201cSix,\u201d the revival of \u201cWest Side Story\u201d\u00a0and \u201cGirl from the North Country\u201d will not be considered due to not having been seen by the required number of Tony voters. <\/p>\n
