That region may have resembled modern Iceland, careful examination of the geology of Gale Crater reveals.<\/p>\n<p id=\"a5ba\" class=\"gu gv dn gw b gx gy gz ha hb hc hd he hf hg hh hi hj hk hl hm hn ho hp hq hr df ek\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ck jf\" href=\"https:\/\/thecosmiccompanion.net\/curiosity-rover-finds-organics-on-mars\/\">Curiosity<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>has been examining mudstones for more than eight years. But, planetary scientists have questioned whether<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ck jf\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/the-cosmic-companion\/water-vapor-seen-rapidly-escaping-from-mars-3a4639f29099?source=friends_link&amp;sk=917e858b0a5be0286cf3a0302037108e\">Martian water<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>was largely liquid, or predominantly found in the form of ice and snow.<\/p>\n<p id=\"86b9\" class=\"gu gv dn gw b gx gy gz ha hb hc hd he hf hg hh hi hj hk hl hm hn ho hp hq hr df ek\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">\u201cSedimentary rocks in Gale Crater instead detail a climate that likely falls in between these two scenarios. The ancient climate was likely frigid but also <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to have supported liquid water in lakes for extended periods of time,\u201d explains Michael Thorpe of Rice University.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"a409\" class=\"jj jk dn ce jl jm jn jo jp jq jr js jt ju jv jw jx jy jz ka kb kc kd ke kf kg ek\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Weathering_the_stone\"><\/span>Weathering the stone<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p id=\"c85c\" class=\"gu gv dn gw b gx kw gz ha hb kx hd he hf ky hh hi hj kz hl hm hn la hp hq hr df ek\" data-selectable-paragraph=\"\">The temperature was found to be the most important condition affecting the weatherization of sedimentary rocks formed within streams. And, the effects of weathering were extremely light in the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"ck jf\" href=\"https:\/\/thecosmiccompanion.net\/mud-volcanoes-on-mars-helped-shape-the-red-planet\/\">Martian rock<\/a>.
