But I\u2019m going to do it anyway. <\/p>\n<p>Or, rather, I\u2019m going to harp on a critical ingredient of makes Jackie Chan so special. Namely: his willingness to take a beating. I say \u201cwillingness\u201d because, these days, Hollywood action stars seem terribly afraid of looking anything but invincible. Just look at the <em>Fast and Furious <\/em>franchise. They\u2019ve literally <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/fast-furious-stars-complicated-demandi-never-want-to-lose-a-fight-11564673490?shareToken=st9ec3223fe41646658729e34425676d84\">signed contracts<\/a> stipulating that they can\u2019t lose fights. <\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t mean to imply that <em>all <\/em>modern action suffers this way. I\u2019m on record arguing that one of the reasons the <em>Mission: Impossible <\/em>films work is because Tom Cruise is h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y to scramble, stumble, and get punched in the throat. But I do think <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly in the genre, egos tend to get in the way of what serves the action, and by extension, the story. <\/p>\n<p>Not only is Jackie Chan happy to be on the receiving end of a devastating punch, he repeatedly demonstrates that taking a hit <em>well <\/em>is an art form unto itself. Good hits tell a story, one that requires mindful editing and committed performances to pull off.
