After all, if your app can\u2019t do the things they like to do, they\u2019re probably not going to want to switch.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to be able to explain how your app can do the same things their current app can do. Ideally, the app you\u2019re promoting can do these things easier or better. It\u2019s important to figure out what it is that keeps them on the current app so you can target that specifically.<\/p>\n<p>For example, maybe they\u2019re obsessed with the sticker packs. Put yourself in their shoes and explain why you decided to make the switch. This is especially effective if you used their current app in the past.<\/p>\n<p>If the person can understand why you switched, it may help them to see a reason to make the switch themselves. The reasons why you switched come down to your personal experience. Some examples include privacy and security concerns\u00a0and\u00a0cross-platform support, or even something as simple as stickers and GIFs.<\/p>\n<p>There must be some reason why you started to use the app that you use, so explain that. My app can do phone calls, and you can send audio messages, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy app has a desktop program so you don\u2019t have to pull out your phone when you\u2019re using your computer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Essentially, you\u2019re advertising for your app. A commercial is nothing more than a plea to get you to do something, and that\u2019s what you\u2019re trying to accomplish here.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Offer_to_Help_Them_Switch\"><\/span>Offer to Help Them Switch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This is a big one, especially if the person you\u2019re trying to convince isn\u2019t the most tech-savvy. They could be sticking with their current app simply because they\u2019re familiar with it and don\u2019t want to learn something new.<\/p>\n<p>Sending someone a download link to an app isn\u2019t super helpful. These tips can be useful, but they won\u2019t work if the person is using their app simply because that\u2019s where most of their contacts are.<\/p>\n<p>The most important thing in this quest is to find someone who has an open mind to switching.\u00a0Maybe they don\u2019t mind using multiple apps, or they\u2019ve been unhappy with their current app for a while, or they just really like you.<\/p>\n<p>If you ask what they like about their current messaging app and they list all the other people that use it, you\u2019re probably not going to have much luck. The best feature in the world won\u2019t be very convincing if they can\u2019t use it with others.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>It can be frustrating to feel like you\u2019re forced to use messaging apps you don\u2019t like just to message a few people.
