But the digital age has brought upon a whole new slew of issues, from racist algorithms to biased facial recognition technology. It\u2019s a WAY thornier topic than we could possibly hope to cover here, but needless to say, celebs are not exempt from it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Khlo\u00e9 Opens Up About\u00a0 Social Media Break At The End Of 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take, for example, the KarJenner clan. The sisters have been highly criticized by the Black community, particularly for poaching their aesthetics from Black women. (And, sometimes, poaching their actual products from Black artists.) You\u2019d think facing this kind of ongoing criticism would make them more careful, but they they cross the boundaries of microaggressions time and time again.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, <strong>Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian<\/strong> was called out for something seemingly small: using a dark-skinned emoji. It might seem silly that emojis have their own politics and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate standards of use, but it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly accepted practice on the Internet that your emoji matches your actual skin tone. So when the <strong>Good American<\/strong> founder posted a string of dark-skinned face-palm emojis on Twitter, people immediately took notice.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_802424\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-802424\" style=\"width: 580px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-802424 lazyload\" width=\"580\" src=\"https:\/\/perezhilton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/khloe-black-emojis-screenshot.jpg\" alt=\"khloe kardashian black emoji screenshot\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/perezhilton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/khloe-black-emojis-screenshot.jpg 580w, https:\/\/perezhilton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/khloe-black-emojis-screenshot-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-802424\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Khlo using the offending emoji. \/ (c) Khlo\u00e9 Kardashian\/Twitter<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seriously, the 36-year-old\u2019s mentions were FULL of comments like these:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBitches get a tan and start changing their emoji skin tone..\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen tf you turn brown??\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the wrong emoji for you colonizer\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, we all know you have to physically go in and change your emoji skin tones. In fact, as one user pointed out, KoKo used the white version of the same emoji just yesterday:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This was yesterday,\u2026. she knows exactly what she\u2019s doing with the brown emojis ????<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Cosmo (@Kid_Cosmo) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Kid_Cosmo\/status\/1356796466367463428?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 3, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>So why in the world did the <em>Revenge Body<\/em> host switch her emoji? Apparently, a fan called her out for using the \u201cblonde emoji,\u201d and Khloe agreed, replying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou read my f**king mind! That\u2019s why you\u2019re my daughter. Seriously every time I use that emoji I always say to myself I have to change it to the brunette version\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You read my fucking mind! That\u2019s why you\u2019re my daughter. Seriously every time I use that emoji I always say to myself I have to change it to the brunette version<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Khlo\u00e9 (@khloekardashian) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/khloekardashian\/status\/1356478112591089665?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Except\u2026 there is a light skinned, dark haired emoji, so she didn\u2019t have to pick one with a darker skin tone just because it\u2019s \u201cbrunette.\u201d Or, as another Twitter user put it:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAin\u2019t nothing brunette about that emoji, ms. girl.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some of the other replies were downright savage:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDear Khloe, here\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>flash for you: Having a Black daughter isn\u2019t transferable..\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cunless ur dad is actually oj u have no reasons to use this emoji\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy are you using jordyn\u2019s emojis ?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Related: Tristan Thompson Is \u2018Invested\u2019 In His Future With Khlo\u00e9\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And not that it matters when exactly she made this strange choice, but to do so during Black History month felt all the more egregious to some:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKhloe.. My patience is very thin this month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis the skin tone you chose\u2026 during Black History Month?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hopefully, Khloe gets this message loud and clear, because even an action this small is obviously hurtful to a lot of people. One user wisely observed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBut on a deeper note these women thrive off of black outrage.
