John Carpenter<\/strong> is a legend, and every time he gives a new interview, he drops enjoyable little quotes that we can all obsess over. Just recently he gave a great interview with The Daily Beast<\/a> in which he called horrible former President Ronald Reagan an \u201cold piece of shit,\u201d and we all had a good laugh. Now, as Carpenter\u2019s interviews continue for his latest album \u2013\u00a0Lost Theme<\/a>s III: Life After Death<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 we have another quote we\u2019re going to zero in on. This quote has to do with\u00a0Halloween Kills<\/em><\/strong>, the latest entry in the\u00a0Halloween<\/em> franchise that Carpenter helped create over 40 years ago. According to the legendary filmmaker, the upcoming\u00a0Halloween<\/em> sequel is the \u201cultimate slasher\u201d movie. And that\u2019s saying something.<\/p>\n

Now, before we get into this, a disclaimer is in order. When it comes to\u00a0Halloween Kills<\/em>, John Carpenter is not impartial. Not only is he handling the music for the film, he\u2019s also an executive producer, which means it\u2019s in his best interest to sing the film\u2019s praises. That said, John Carpenter doesn\u2019t bullshit. He\u2019s blunt and honest, and he\u2019s not afraid to be honest when asked about movies<\/a> he has some connection to.
\nWhen Carpenter was once asked about how he felt about his films being remade, he replied<\/a>: \u201cI love it, if they are going to pay me money. If they pay me, it\u2019s wonderful. If they don\u2019t pay me, I don\u2019t care. I think it\u2019s unfair if they don\u2019t pay me. I think everyone should pay me. Why not? I\u2019m an old guy now and I need money. Send me money.\u201d Like I said: he\u2019s blunt.<\/p>\n

With that out of the way, let\u2019s move on to\u00a0Halloween Kills<\/em>, shall we? While speaking with Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Carpenter was asked for his thoughts on the upcoming movie, to which he replied: \u201cIt\u2019s brilliant. It\u2019s the ultimate slasher. I mean, there\u2019s nothing more than this one. Wow! Man.\u201d It\u2019s worth noting here that Carpenter has used this \u201cultimate slasher\u201d distinction for the film before. Last year, when asked about\u00a0Halloween Kills<\/em>, Carpenter said: \u201cIt\u2019s the quintessential slasher film. It is so intense\u2026oh my god\u2026it even stuns me how incredible it is. [Director]\u00a0David<\/strong>\u00a0[Gordon<\/strong>\u00a0Green<\/strong>] just did a great job. Can\u2019t wait to have you see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Again: Carpenter isn\u2019t impartial, but if he wanted to, he could also just shut questions about the film down entirely. Case in point: when once asked during an\u00a0interview<\/a>\u00a0how he felt about the remake of\u00a0The Fog<\/em>, the director replied: \u201cNo comment.\u201d So let\u2019s all operate under the assumption that Carpenter is being honest here, and that\u00a0Halloween Kills<\/em> really will be the \u201cultimate slasher\u201d movie when it arrives on\u00a0October\u00a015,\u00a02021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
