Did anyone at the city Department of Education think once, let alone twice, about allowing young students to be taught lessons from a curriculum drawn up by Black Lives Matter radicals? One that idealizes a cold-blooded cop-killer?<\/p>\n

As The\u00a0Post\u2019s Selim Algar and Lee Brown report, city public schools are joining in a Black Lives Matter at School \u201cweek of action.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s Web site \u2014 which notes it is \u201ccommitted to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement,\u201d among other beliefs that we\u2019re pretty sure most African Americans don\u2019t share \u2014 centers on an inspirational quote from no less than Joanne Chesimard, a k a Assata Shakur, a Black Liberation Army terrorist convicted of the 1973 execution-style murder of a New Jersey state trooper, Werner Foerster.<\/p>\n

In 1979, she escaped prison and fled to Cuba, where\u2019s she\u2019s believed to remain.\u00a0In 2013, the Obama administration put her on the FBI\u2019s Most Wanted Terrorists list, with a $1 million award for assisting in her capture.<\/p>\n

Yet there she is on the BLM at School homepage, quoted as saying, \u201cIt is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win,\u201d and, \u201cWe must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Maybe the BLMers don\u2019t even know her history \u2014 or only know the distortions pushed by the far left for decades. Either way, this alone proves the group\u2019s work is unfit for even an hour of any public-school curriculum.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s quite apart from how its 13 Principles veer far from what most people understand as the core of the Black Lives Matter message.<\/p>\n

The United Federation of Teachers voted last November to endorse the BLM week \u2014 but how many members looked past the headline? More important, it\u2019s the duty of DOE higher-ups to look at this stuff and say \u201cno\u201d when it proves blatantly inapp<\/a>ropriate.<\/p>\n

But the folks running Mayor de Blasio\u2019s DOE plainly don\u2019t know how to say \u201cno\u201d to the UFT, or to rank idiocy when it poses as progressive thought. Still, we never expected them to fail\u00a0this<\/em>\u00a0pathetically.\n <\/div>\n
