Elon Musk says that his neurotechnology<\/a> company Neuralink could be launching human trials \u201clater this year.\u201d <\/p>\n

Musk shared the news<\/a> in response to a Twitter<\/a> user who said he\u2019d be willing to participate in the human trials, which would implant an artificial intelligence chip in humans\u2019 brains in hopes they could control technology just by thinking. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was in a car accident 20 years ago and have been paralyzed from the shoulders ever since. I\u2019m always available for clinical studies at @Neuralink,\u201d Twitter user Hamoon Kamai wrote to Musk<\/a> on Sunday. <\/p>\n

\u201cNeuralink is working super hard to ensure implant safety & is in close communication with the FDA. If things go well, we might be able to do initial human trials later this year,\u201d the Tesla CEO replied<\/a> on Monday. <\/p>\n

Neuralink\u2019s goal is also to help paralyzed patients easily interact with their cellphones or computers by implanting the brain chip, Musk previously said.<\/p>\n

The company began testing its chip on animals over the summer and used a pig for its experiment. <\/p>\n

Musk recently went on the audio-streaming app<\/a> Clubhouse, where he said Neuralink has implanted the brain chip in a monkey and that it can play video game<\/a>s with its mind. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve already got a monkey with a wireless implant in their skull, and the tiny wires, who can play video games using his mind,\u201d the billionaire tech entrepreneur said. <\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the things we\u2019re trying to figure out is, can we have the monkeys play mind-Pong with each other?\u201d Musk added. \u201cThat would be pretty cool.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
