The day isn\u2019t over yet, but I can\u2019t imagine there being a more Mad Libs-style headline to come out of the entertainment news<\/a> world than this one.<\/p>\n

Mattel Films will team up with rapper Lil Yachty<\/strong> to produce an Uno<\/strong><\/em> movie based on the classic card game<\/a>, with Yachty also \u201ceyeing a starring role\u201d in the film. And naturally, as anyone who has ever played Uno should clearly already know, the movie will be set in the underground hip-hop scene in Atlanta, Georgia. Of course. Makes total sense.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Deadline reports that Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Yachty will be producing the Uno<\/em> movie alongside Kevin \u201cCoach K\u201d Lee<\/strong>, Pierre \u201cP\u201d Thomas<\/strong>, and Brian Sher<\/strong>. Robbie Brenner<\/strong> (A Perfect Getaway<\/em>)\u00a0will executive produce.
\nMarcy Kelly<\/strong>, a writer with no credits to her name yet, is writing the screenplay, which is a live-action heist comedy \u201cset in the underground hip hop world of Atlanta.\u201d How exactly this pitch has anything at all to do with the beloved, family-friendly card game \u2013 which involves cards with colors, numbers, or instructions like \u201cSkip,\u201d \u201cReverse,\u201d \u201cWild\u201d, or \u201cDraw Four\u201d on them \u2013 remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel,\u201d Lil Yachty said in a statement. \u201cI played Uno as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Again, super confused about how color-coded cards will be mixed into a heist with the underground music scene as a backdrop. Will we see a rap battle dictated by the whims of a random deck of cards, with a moderator dictating the battles by \u201creversing\u201d the order mid-stream, allowing rappers to go \u201cwild\u201d with form, and penalizing people with \u201cdraw four\u201d cards, which maybe force the performer to select four key phrases which must be included in their next volley? I\u2019m just spitballing here, because I have absolutely no clue how this is going to work.<\/p>\n

As for Yachty, he\u2019s previously lent his voice to the character of Green Lantern in Teen Titans Go! To the Movies<\/a><\/em>, played \u201cThe Beatboxer\u201d in Life-Size 2: A Christmas Eve<\/em>, appeared as himself in Longshot<\/em>, and starred opposite DJ Young Fly in 2019\u2019s How High 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Deadline says Mattel Films has several other movies in the works, including ones based on American Girl, Barbie, Hot Wheels, Magic 8 Ball, Major Matt Mason, Masters of the Universe, Thomas & Friends, View Master, and Wishbone.
