The Man of Steel and his family will have a couple of extra adventures this season. The CW has ordered three additional episodes ahead of the new Superman & Lois<\/em> TV series\u2019 February 23rd<\/strong> premiere date. This brings the show\u2019s first season tally to 15 episodes.<\/p>\n

A superhero drama series based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Superman & Lois<\/em> stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Jordan Elsass, Alexander Garfin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Dylan Walsh, and Wol\u00e9 Parks.<\/p>\n

The show picks up after Superman\/Clark Kent (Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Tulloch) have spent years working in Metropolis at The Daily Planet news<\/a>paper. They\u2019ve gotten married and are now working parents, raising two boys. In addition to the usual trials and tribulations of being parents, Clark and Lois must also concern themselves with whether or not their sons Jonathan (Elsass) and Jordan (Garfin) could inherit their father\u2019s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang (Chriqui), a local loan officer who also happ<\/a>ens to be Clark\u2019s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing (Valdez).<\/p>\n

The adults aren\u2019t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle\u2019s rebellious daughter, Sarah (Navarrette). Of course, there\u2019s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois\u2019 father, General<\/a> Samuel Lane (Walsh) looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment\u2019s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois\u2019 return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger (Parks) enters their lives.<\/p>\n

The series launches on Tuesday, February 23rd, with a special 90-minute episode. It will be followed by a half-hour special, Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope<\/em>, with sneak peeks and interviews from the cast of the new series, plus special guests discussing the legacy of the Man of Steel. The Flash<\/em> will return for its seventh season premiere a week later.<\/p>\n

While there are no guarantees, it seems likely that Superman & Lois<\/em> will land a second season renewal. The CW is saying goodbye to the Black Lightning<\/em> and Supergirl<\/em> series this season and the network has already renewed most of its current scripted shows \u2014 All American<\/em> (season four), \u00a0Batwoman<\/em> (season three), Charmed<\/em> (season four), DC\u2019s Legends of Tomorrow<\/em> (season seven), Dynasty (season five), The Flash<\/em> (season eight), In the Dark<\/em> (season four), Legacies<\/em> (season four), Nancy Drew<\/em> (season three), Riverdale<\/em> (season six), Roswell, New Mexico<\/em> (season four), and Walker<\/em> (season two).<\/p>\n

\u201cThough we\u2019re just a few weeks into the new season, we wanted to get a strategic head start on next season with these early renewals, which allows our production teams to start laying out story arcs and hiring staff, and at the same time, continues to provide us with a strong, stable schedule to build on for next season,\u201d said Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO of The CW Network.<\/p>\n
