Despite \u201clittle evidence,\u201d Dems claim the few hundred Jan. 6 Capitol rioters were part of a \u201cfull-fledged domestic terrorism conspiracy\u201d and link them to not just President Donald Trump but \u201ceven those who voted for him,\u201d as they seek to paint \u201cthe Republican Party as disloyal, authoritarian and violent.\u201d Impeachment isn\u2019t just \u201crevenge\u201d; it\u2019s \u201ca vehicle for making the culture war about Trump a permanent feature of American politics.\u201d Transforming \u201ca protest\u201d into a \u201crebellion\u201d is an \u201cact of political mischief aimed at discrediting legitimate opposition.\u201d By making the \u201cdefense of democracy\u201d the \u201cdefining issue,\u201d Dems could \u201clock Republicans into a permanent minority position.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the right: Team Biden\u2019s \u2018Tragic\u2019 Word Game<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The word of the day, notes Ben Shapiro at RealClearPolitics<\/a>, \u201cis equity,\u201d which is replacing the \u201ctraditionally American concept\u201d of \u201cequality,\u201d meaning \u201cthe protection of the rights of all individuals.\u201d Though the two words are separated by just one syllable, \u201cequity\u201d is different \u2014 it \u201cmeans that each group should receive the same outcome as every other group.\u201d To show racial inequity, \u201cone need not show animus or discriminatory policy\u201d but only an \u201cunequal outcome.\u201d Alas, this \u201cidiotic and perverse\u201d philosophy \u201chas become the root of Biden administration policymaking. \u2018Equity\u2019 has been used as the keyword from environmental to economic to COVID-19 policy.\u201d It may seem like just a word game, but it\u2019s a \u201ctragedy\u201d to watch.<\/p>\n

Elections wonk: Prez Blowouts Are Now Unlikely<\/strong><\/p>\n

The race between President Biden and former President Donald Trump, observes FiveThirtyEight\u2019s Geoffrey Skelley<\/a>, was \u201creally close, underscoring how divided the country is electorally.\u201d Indeed, this is \u201cthe most competitive era of presidential politics in the nation\u2019s history,\u201d as 2020 marked the ninth straight prez election with a popular-vote margin under 10 percentage points. The only similar period: 1876 to 1900, with \u201cseven straight contests decided by single digits,\u201d including two where the Electoral College winner didn\u2019t win the popular vote. Why? Both eras feature unusually strong ideological divides between the two parties. And \u201cmany of the forces that have made our politics so combative and competitive today seem stronger than ever, which could foreshadow more bitterly close contests in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Historian: Operation Warp Speed\u2019s Success<\/strong><\/p>\n

Operation Warp Speed has succeeded because it followed \u201cthe model of the World War II mobilization,\u201d argues Arthur Herman at The Wall Street Journal<\/a>. Its feat of creating and distributing \u201cabout 50 million vaccine doses,\u201d with \u201chundreds of millions more on the way,\u201d makes it \u201cthe most remarkable achievement in modern medicine.\u201d State officials must now \u201crealize the federal government is operating in the wake of a health-care version of Pearl Harbor\u201d and adjust accordingly. They can, for example, use their National Guard adjutants general<\/a> as \u201cvaccine czars,\u201d with authority \u201cto override state-agency procedures and coordinate with federal leadership.\u201d Another key step: turn \u201cmajor businesses with large distribution networks into links in a logistical chain\u201d to \u201cput as much vaccine as Operation Warp Speed can supply into as many arms as need it.\u201d <\/p>\n
