And what is an audio-only social network anyway?<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clubhouse_is_Exclusive\"><\/span>Clubhouse is Exclusive<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A part of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.joinclubhouse.com\/\">Clubhouse\u2019s<\/a> frenzy is the fact that it\u2019s exclusive. As of February 2021, Clubhouse is an invite-only app that exclusively works on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/app\/id1503133294\">iPhone<\/a>. And still, it has garnered millions of users. In fact, some celebrities, like Tiffany Haddish, boast more than a million followers.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.joinclubhouse.com\/welcoming-more-voices\">Clubhouse plans to open up<\/a> registration to the public at a future date and has started development on an Andriod app. Both steps should help Clubhouse grow even larger and more popular.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Clubhouse_Makes_Group_Audio_Calls_Public\"><\/span>Clubhouse Makes Group Audio Calls Public<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-712638\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Clubhouse-Rooms.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"636\" height=\"600\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Clubhouse lets you create different rooms where up to 5,000 users at a time can chat using their voice. There\u2019s no support for video or text chat.<\/p>\n<p>The person who creates the room can invite other members to become speakers or admins. Rooms can be both private or public. If the room is public, anyone can join using a link or from Clubhouse\u2019s Explore page.<\/p>\n<p>Once in a public room, you can listen in quietly\u2014meaning your entrance isn\u2019t announced to everyone in the room. By default, someone who joins the room can\u2019t speak. When you choose to speak, Clubhouse will visually indicate to everyone in the room that it\u2019s you talking. When you\u2019re done, you can choose to mute yourself.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re ready to leave the room or close the app, you can without making it a big deal. There\u2019s no notification when someone joins or leaves a room. People can create and leave rooms as they please.<\/p>\n<p>Something to note is that nothing in the room is recorded in the app. It\u2019s very much like a radio talk show. If you weren\u2019t listening to the discussion live, you missed what was said. You create a meeting (room), participants can join from anywhere, and they can raise their hands to speak.<\/p>\n<p>Clubhouse takes this familiar approach and puts a community aspect to it. It is, after all, a social network.<\/p>\n<p>So if you want, you can create your own clubs or groups to discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, books, sports, or really anything you and others might enjoy. Or at least a light version of it. This is because most of the time you are essentially listening in on a phone call between two or three people.<\/p>\n<p>The difference is here, the conversation is happening live using iPhone microphones, over a Wi-Fi or wireless network. There\u2019s no fit and finish that you expect in a podcast.<\/p>\n<p>But unlike a podcast, Clubhouse rooms are ephemeral by design. There\u2019s no feed of past episodes you can listen to later. Many Clubhouse rooms are already hitting the platform\u2019s 5,000 user limit during celebrity broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p>If you can get an invite, this is a good time to try out Clubhouse. It\u2019s a bit rough around the edges, but it\u2019s still at the place where you can make genuine connections with other members by hanging out in different rooms.<\/p>\n<p>Signing up for and using Clubhouse today is like joining Facebook in 2006, or Instagram in 2011.
