Here\u2019s how to enable (or disable) macros in Microsoft Office 365.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Security_Warning\"><\/span>Security Warning<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Macros are used to automate tasks by m<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing a sequence of keystrokes to perform a specific task. In Office, you can record a macro with no development background, but macros are code. Legitimate macros save you the time and effort of having to press the same keys or click the same buttons repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p>However, someone with ill intent can inject malicious code in an Office document via a macro and infect your computer and\/or network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>Macros Explained: Why Microsoft Office Files Can Be Dangerous<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Always be cautious when downloading an Office document from the web and never open any documents from unreliable sources.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enable_or_Disable_Macros_for_Office_on_Windows_10\"><\/span>Enable or Disable Macros for Office on Windows 10<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Macros are disabled by default, but you can easily enable them. If you open a file that contains macros, Microsoft Office will send a security warning via the Message Bar at the top of the document. Here, you have the following four options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u201cDisable All Macros Without Notification\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0This setting disables macros and relevant security alerts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cDisable All Macros with Notification\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0Select this option to disable macros, but also send a security alert so you know a document contains macros.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cDisable All Macros Except Digitally Signed Macros\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0Selecting this disables macros, but sends a security alert so you know the document contains macros. However, it will run macros that contain a digital signature by a trusted publisher. If you haven\u2019t trusted the publisher, you\u2019ll receive an alert.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cEnable All Macros (Not Recommended; Potentially Dangerous Code Can Run)\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0If you select this setting, all macros will run without a warning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-707126\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Macro-settings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"141\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Click the radio button next to the setting you prefer, and then click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enable_or_Disable_Macros_for_Office_on_Mac\"><\/span>Enable or Disable Macros for Office on Mac<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you try to open an Office file containing macros on your Mac, a security warning will appear before the document opens. The message states that macros might contain viruses, and you should only enable macros if you trust the source.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-707243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Enable-or-disable-or-macros-message-for-mac.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"192\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Click \u201cEnable Macros\u201d to enable them, \u201cDisable Macros\u201d to disable them, or \u201cDo Not Open\u201d to prevent Office from opening the document.<\/p>\n<p>If you click \u201cEnable Macros,\u201d the macros will be enabled for the duration of the session.
