This unity evidently doesn\u2019t include the broad swath of Americans, including some traditional Democratic constituencies, who support school choice. The latest poll on the topic, conducted by the Democratic polling firm Beck Research, found that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federationforchildren.org\/support-for-school-choice-remains-strong-during-volatile-year\/\">65 percent of K-12 parents back school choice<\/a>. Moreover, 74 percent of African Americans and 71 percent of Latinos, groups that stand to gain the most from choice, are staunch supporters as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Less than 36 hours after President Biden took the oath of office, however, First Lady Jill Biden feted union leaders at the White House, reminding them of her promise that teachers unions \u201cwill always have a seat at the table\u201d in the administration. Around the same time, Biden <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsandiego.com\/news\/local\/sdusd-cindy-marten-nominated-as-deputy-secretary-of-education\/2498494\/\">announced his choice<\/a> for deputy secretary of Education: San Diego Unified School District superintendent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/radicalism-in-san-diego-schools\">Cindy Marten<\/a>, who has aligned herself with the California Teachers Association in trying to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the74million.org\/charter-advocates-raise-objections-to-bidens-pick-for-number-two-spot-at-education-department\/\">halt the growth of charter schools<\/a>. For example, he could acknowledge a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/09243453.2020.1846569\">new study<\/a> on \u201cthe effects of school choice on mental health.\u201d Researchers Corey DeAngelis and Angela Dills analyzed the correlation between adolescent suicide rates and the enactment of private-school voucher and charter programs over the last several decades, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.wsj.com\/shop\/us\/us\/wsjuelnsb20\/?state=choice&amp;trackingCode=aaqwghw7&amp;cid=WSJ_AFF_NA_ACQ_NA&amp;n2IKsaD9=n2IKsaD9&amp;Pg9aWOPT=Pg9aWOPT&amp;Cp5dKJWb=Cp5dKJWb&amp;APCc9OU1=APCc9OU1&amp;AID=10300649&amp;PID=4003003&amp;SID=kksox2rmap03bqel0023y&amp;subid=VigLink&amp;cjevent=8d62fbb967e911eb834903b20a240613&amp;tier_1=affiliate&amp;tier_2=moa&amp;tier_3=VigLink&amp;tier_4=2470763&amp;tier_5=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wsj.com%2Farticles%2Fschool-choice-better-than-prozac-11608248279\">finding that<\/a> \u201cstates that enacted charter school laws witnessed a 10 percent decrease in suicide rates among 15- to 19-year-olds.\u201d DeAngelis and Dills also found that laws supporting private-school vouchers were \u201cassociated with fewer suicides, though the change was not statistically significant. The effect would likely be larger if more students received vouchers.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, according to recent survey data, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/private-schools-coronavirus-public-schools-d6aaf803-d458-4301-a3a7-71364b00a5b0.html\">62 percent<\/a> of public school kids started classes this fall on Zoom, while just <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/private-schools-coronavirus-public-schools-d6aaf803-d458-4301-a3a7-71364b00a5b0.html\">5 percent<\/a> of private schools were virtual this fall. Thanks to union-mandated public school shutdowns, an entire generation can expect a drop in lifetime earnings of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/grow.acorns.com\/coronavirus-impact-on-school-financial-futures\/\">5 to 10 percent<\/a>. Mango for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Biden should also acknowledge the research of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ocpathink.org\/post\/what-does-the-research-show-on-school-choice\">Greg Forster<\/a>, who reports that in 32 of 34 empirical studies, \u201cschool choice improves academic outcomes in public schools affected by the program, while one finds no visible difference and one finds a negative impact.\u201d Forster\u2019s study also found that school choice has an overwhelmingly positive effect on taxpayers (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.edchoice.org\/research\/win-win-solution\/\">it saves them money<\/a>), ethnic integration, and civic values and practices \u2014 not to mention on academic outcomes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thus far, however, Biden has shown no concern for the growing consensus in favor of school choice, preferring instead to spend his early presidency catering to teachers union bosses and promoting their ruinous one-size-fits-all <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to education.
