Gronk and Tom Brady are going head to head \u2014 in a quirky new Super Bowl 2021 commercial. <\/p>\n

The two former New England Patriots teammates, who both now play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, app<\/a>eared in a T-Mobile ad that debuted Friday ahead of Sunday\u2019s big game<\/a> against the Kansas City Chiefs. <\/p>\n

In the commercial, which takes place last year, Brady, 43, calls up his buddy to ask what his next move should be \u2014 after two decades in the game and six Super Bowl rings on his fingers. <\/p>\n

\u201cI got one word for you: retirement,\u201d a formerly retired Rob Gronkowski, 31, tells Brady while putting around on a sunny golf course. \u201cIf you retire now, you\u2019re gonna be walking on soft sand in a week. Retirement is like winning another one! Maybe I\u2019ll even join you.\u201d <\/p>\n

Except, that\u2019s not what Brady heard, no thanks to his \u201cspotty network,\u201d a voiceover says.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you retire now, you\u2019re soft and weak,\u201d the garbled feed yells out. \u201cJust come to Florida and win another one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLike it\u2019s that easy, Gronk,\u201d Brady says to himself after the call. Fast forward to this year, and the rest is history. \u201cI\u2019m taking Gronk with me,\u201d Brady vows in a fake press conference at the end of the ad. <\/p>\n

So that\u2019s how they both ended up in Tampa. Maybe spotty networks aren\u2019t such a bad thing after all. <\/p>\n

The Brady-Gronk gag is just one of the Super Bowl 2021 commercials released early ahead of Sunday\u2019s big game, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on CBS<\/a>. Fellow football great Joe Montana also appeared in an ad for Guinness, while a different-kind-of-great John Travolta and his daughter Ella revived Travolta\u2019s \u201cGrease\u201d moves in a now-viral ad for Scotts & Miracle Gro.\n <\/div>\n
