A 70-year-old man from the UK rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean so he could raise money for Alzheimer\u2019s research, according to a report. <\/p>\n

Frank Rothwell from Oldham began his journey on Dec. 12 from La Gomera in the Canary Islands and reached his destination in the Caribbean island of Antigua on Saturday, the Guardian reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Rothwell managed to raise more than $780,000 for Alzheimer\u2019s Research UK in memory of his brother-in-law Roger, who died from the disease at age 62. <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt quite emotional app<\/a>roaching the finish. It took six long weeks to row the Atlantic, but the challenge itself has taken over 18 months of training and preparation, so I\u2019m very proud of what I\u2019ve achieved and the unbelievable journey I\u2019ve been on,\u201d he told the outlet. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhile rowing, I received heartbreaking messages from people who have had similar experiences to my own,\u201d Rothwell added. \u201cI hope I\u2019ve helped other families in some way too.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
