That the currency that was invented as a joke in fact becomes a real currency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>DOGE has been at the center of a massive pump-and-dump spurred on by <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reddit<\/a> traders and investors who have become highly receptive to Musk\u2019s tweets. The latter camp isn\u2019t small, either. <\/p>\n<p>A recent report from Blockchain Research Lab titled, <em>How Elon Musk\u2019s Twitter activity moves cryptocurrency markets, <\/em>showed the billionaire has a positive influence on digital asset values and trading whenever he tweets about them. <\/p>\n<p>The report <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.blockchainresearchlab.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/BRL-Working-Paper-No-16-How-Elon-Musks-Twitter-activity-moves-cryptocurrency-markets.pdf\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAcross all events, we identify significant increases in trading volume that are attributable to the events.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Musk\u2019s ability to move the markets through Twitter has left some investors worried given the enigmatic CEO\u2019s turbulent history with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC. <\/p>\n<p>As CNBC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/01\/29\/elon-musks-tweets-are-moving-markets.html\">reports<\/a>, Musk\u2019s tweets were behind the recent 12% surge in CD Projekt, which created the role-playing video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a> Cyberpunk 2077. Although Musk\u2019s tweet had substance \u2013 namely, that Tesla\u2019s Model S Plaid car would allow passengers to play the game \u2013 his <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>arent shilling of the GameStop short squeeze could have negative consequences for retail traders who get caught up in the hype. <\/p>\n<p>After breaking above $500 in late January, GameStop&#8217;s share price has plunged all the way back to the sub-$70 level.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Musk has run afoul of the SEC in the past after tweeting his desire to take Tesla private at $420 per share. He and Tesla each had to pay the securities regulator a $20 million fine to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/news\/press-release\/2018-226\">settle<\/a> fraud charges related to the tweet. The settlements had serious ramifications for the electric vehicle maker&#8217;s corporate structure:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The settlements, which are subject to court approval, will result in comprehensive corporate governance and other reforms at Tesla\u2014including Musk\u2019s removal as Chairman of the Tesla board\u2014and the payment by Musk and Tesla of financial penalties.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI do not respect the SEC,\u201d Musk <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tesla-ceo-elon-musk-the-2018-60-minutes-interview\/\">said<\/a> after he paid the fine. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the regulatory backlash, Musk told 60 Minutes in a Dec 2018 interview that his tweets will not be censored. He <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/tesla-ceo-elon-musk-the-2018-60-minutes-interview\/\">explained<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe only tweets that would have to be say reviewed would be if a tweet had a probability of causing a movement in the stock.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
