“#How to Prevent Members From Editing a WhatsApp<\/a> Group\u2019s Details”<\/strong><\/p>\n

By default, WhatsApp allows every member to edit a group\u2019s name, description, and display picture. But, as an admin, if you don\u2019t want anyone to update these details without your approval, here\u2019s how you can restrict that access to yourself.<\/p>\n

Open the WhatsApp app on your\u00a0iPhone<\/a>\u00a0or Android<\/a> device. Under the \u201cChats\u201d tab, tap your group\u2019s name.<\/p>\n

Select your group\u2019s title at the top of the screen to visit its profile page.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, you can long-press the group\u2019s name in the \u201cChats\u201d tab, tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, and from the following dropdown, head into \u201cGroup Info\u201d to view the group\u2019s profile page.<\/p>\n

Navigate to \u201cGroup Settings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here, you can adjust what kind of rights admins and participants of a group have.<\/p>\n

Select the \u201cEdit Group Info\u201d option to specify which set of members can modify the group\u2019s basic details.<\/p>\n

In the pop-up window, switch to \u201cOnly Admins.\u201d Tap the \u201cOK\u201d button to save the new preference.<\/p>\n

Now, only the admins can edit your group\u2019s information and profile picture.<\/p>\n

As soon as you put this change into effect, WhatsApp will notify the group\u2019s participants about it with a note in the conversation. The option to edit the group\u2019s name, description, and icon will simply disappear from members\u2019 phones.<\/p>\n

To restore the original settings, you can return to the same \u201cGroup Settings\u201d menu and switch back to \u201cAll Participants\u201d in the \u201cEdit Group Info\u201d pop-up.<\/p>\n

There are also other, similar perks that WhatsApp group admins can take advantage of. For instance, admins can revoke participants\u2019 ability to send messages in a group chat if, for instance, they\u2019d like to broadcast an important announcement and don\u2019t want it to get buried under the deluge of other chatter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
