“#Watch H.E.R. Perform \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d at Super Bowl 2021<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

H.E.R. helped open tonight\u2019s Super Bowl 2021 broadcast, where she performed \u201cAmerica the Beautiful\u201d prior to the beginning of the game<\/a> between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Her performance, which preceded Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church singing the National Anthem, was punctuated by a huge guitar solo. Watch it happ<\/a>en below.<\/p>\n

Prior to tonight\u2019s game, H.E.R. told ET<\/em><\/a> that she was looking forward to the performance. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a huge stage and it doesn\u2019t get any bigger, you know? But I\u00a0think the goal, for me, is to make [the song] my own,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of the different versions of \u2018America the Beautiful,\u2019 but I really want to bring some different elements in there… make it H.E.R.\u201d<\/p>\n

H.E.R. was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her song \u201cFight for You,\u201d which appears in the new Shaka King film Judas and the Black Messiah<\/em>. Tonight\u2019s Super Bowl also opened with Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church singing the National Anthem. The Weeknd is set to deliver the halftime performance later in the night.<\/p>\n
