“#Watch the Weeknd\u2019s Super Bowl 2021 Halftime Show<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The Weeknd pulled out all the stops for his much-anticipated Super Bowl 2021 Halftime Show performance. He arrived on a set that app<\/a>eared to have a Vegas-style skyline alongside a choir performing in red goggles (like a bunch of Mothmen). Watch the performance below.<\/p>\n

He opened with \u201cStarboy\u201d and \u201cThe Hills.\u201d When he did \u201cCan\u2019t Feel My Face,\u201d he went into a tight mirrored corridor accompanied by a bunch of people with their faces bandaged up. He reemerged for \u201cI Feel It Coming\u201d and \u201cSave Your Tears.\u201d A string section joined him for \u201cEarned It.\u201d The Weeknd and his dancers hit the field for \u201cHouse of Balloons\u201d (yes\u2014a Siouxsie and the Banshees sample played at the Super Bowl) and then a massive performance of \u201cBlinding Lights.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Weeknd revealed in the days leading up to the Super Bowl that his performance would have \u201cno special guests.\u201d The singer reportedly poured $7 million of his own money<\/a> into the production costs for the performance, which was held in the stands of the arena as opposed to the usual on-field stage that has been rolled out in years past. As a report in The New York Times<\/em><\/a> detailed last week, the size of year\u2019s halftime show production was noticeably smaller in scale, employing only a \u201cfraction of the work force\u201d typically required to make it happen.<\/p>\n
