The Weeknd (unsurprisingly) rocked a red suit during the Super Bowl halftime show.<\/p>\n

Richfresh designer Patrick Henry created the custom suit for the singer, WWD reported<\/a>. The look \u2014 which hearkened back to several recent red-and-black suits worn by the star \u2014 featured a sparkly red blazer worn over a black shirt, pants and tie, and black leather gloves. <\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to keep it really clean,\u201d the Los Angeles-based designer told the publication. \u201cEverything is made in such a way that he looks very together when he\u2019s standing still, but he can still move around because Abel likes to move.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outfit paid homage to \u201ctransformation,\u201d which the designer said has been \u201cthe whole tone and message of [The Weeknd\u2019s] album,\u201d called \u201cAfter Hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

The transformation of the singer\u2019s face, from bloodied and bandaged to altered with prosthetics and CGI plastic surgery, has also been a hot topic <\/a>over the past year-plus \u2014 part of \u201cThe Character\u201d he created surrounding his album. <\/p>\n

The halftime look felt similar to tailored suits The Weeknd has worn in recent app<\/a>earances, the designer noted to WWD. The 30-year-old, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has sported his signature style while performing and attending events with a banged-up face, including at the 2020 VMAs<\/a>, which saw him with bruises, and the 2020 American Music Awards, where his face was completely wrapped up in bandages. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated,\u201d he previously told Variety.<\/a> <\/p>\n

While The Weeknd\u2019s face didn\u2019t appear altered<\/a> for the halftime show, several dancers with bandaged faces and similar outfits surrounded the star at various points during the performance.<\/p>\n

As Page Six previously reported, The Weeknd\u2019s halftime show mostly took place in the stands, instead of on the field, to abide by COVID-19 safety precautions.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
