Brown, Adam Ahlbrandt, Ellie Church, Linnea Quigley<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hunters <\/em><\/strong>(2016) clearly aims to be the most distasteful film I\u2019ll watch in 2021, but that\u2019s not to say it\u2019s successful in any way. An ultra-low budget attempt to fuse the terror of 1986\u2019s <em>Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer<\/em> with unfiltered nudity and vaginal penetration by dangerous objects is an accurate de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion. Unfortunately for the writer\/director of this film, Adam Ahlbrandt (<em>The Cemetery <\/em>2013), his narrow focus on shock comes across as dull and sophomoric as it sounds.<span id=\"more-163379\"\/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-163855\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-5.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-5-310x172.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-5-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-163862\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-4.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-4-310x172.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-4-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Genre legend Linnea Quiqley (<em>Silent Night, Deadly Night <\/em>1984, <em>The Return of the Living Dead <\/em>1985) is indeed in this film, along with many other actors of varying capability, but discussing their roles and performance is unnecessary, as the entire cast either pleads for their lives, snivels through rags, or repeats dialogue stolen from enumerable Pornhub \u201camateur\u201d clips. \u201cYou like that? Yeah, you like that\u201d seems to be Ahlbrandt\u2019s personal mantra, as he made sure to ADR the murderous lead characters repeating the lines over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>The story, too, is irrelevant, as its impact is nonexistent. It\u2019s merely the frame on which to hang the abutting scenes of home invasion and sexual assault perpetrated on the bulk of the cast one by one (and sometimes in pairs). The assumption here is that what little script Ahlbrandt actually wrote included lots of room for purposeless adlib, and I imagine it ran a good four pages total\u2014that\u2019s how much content there is here to spread into an hour and thirty-six minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-163856\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-6.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-6-310x172.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-6-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The harshness of this critique is necessary, because exploitation films have their place. They have the potential to enthrall as well as terrify us, feeding the basest of our animal desires and curiosity until we recognize our own culpability in the horrors we witness. An example where this is done with much higher success is the unflinching <em>Naked Massacre<\/em> (1976) by director Denis H\u00e9roux, where a crazed veteran abuses and murders a houseful of terrified nurses as inspired by the true story of murderer Richard Speck. In that film, the camera work is as gritty as the subject, and it both looks and feels like an home video of real atrocities.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, we\u2019re given differing levels of fear from the cast, and are left to sit in the horror of what\u2019s occurring without being relieved by overt <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> commentary from the filmmakers. This is nuance in the face of extremely exploitative material, and <em>Hunters<\/em> neither understands nor achieves it. Instead, the vile acts portrayed are stilted and desperately screaming \u201caren\u2019t we shocking?\u201d They drag on one-by-one in turn, leaving the audience with nothing to do but rethink our watching habits, while the butchered cast must, I assume, be rethinking their career choices.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-163858\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-8.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-8-310x172.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-8-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-163857\" src=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-7.jpg 550w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-7-310x172.jpg 310w, https:\/\/horrornews.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Hunters-2016-movie-Adam-Ahlbrandt-7-100x56.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ahlbrandt attempts to cop the visual style of Rob Zombie, especially in his lighting choices, which feel like a further attempt to be edgy. Without Zombie\u2019s signature cartoonish character work on display, it seems unfitting. There\u2019s also, as mentioned, full frontal male and female nudity, and scenes whose mention would send any kid to the counselor, such as a woman who is shot in the head by way of her vagina. If that at all sounds interesting to you, this may be your film, but for those uninterested in badly choreographed rape and murder fantasy play, there\u2019s nothing here to recommend.
