Billy Brown, the patriarch on the Discovery reality series<\/a> \u201cAlaskan Bush People<\/a>,\u201d died Sunday at age 68.<\/p>\n

He passed away following a seizure, according to a private Instagram by his son, Bear Brown, according to<\/a> People magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,\u201d Bear wrote. \u201cHe was our best friend \u2014 a wonderful and loving dad, granddad and husband and he will be dearly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a public Instagram post, Bear\u2019s sister Rain \u2014 who also goes by Rainy \u2014 left a touching tribute<\/a> to their father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI lost a true friend. Not forever, but only in this world,\u201d she wrote. \u201cPlease hold my family in your thoughts and prayers, especially my mother. Please hold your family tight for me. Words cannot express how wonderful he was and is. But I will say, the closest thing to an angel I\u2019ve ever known. God bless you da I love and miss you dearly. You will always be my hero. God bless everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s official Twitter<\/a> account also acknowledged<\/a> his \u201csudden passing,\u201d calling him \u201ca trailblazer, a lovely man, and most definitely one of a kind.\u201d<\/p>\n
