This makes LTC the seventh-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and it ranks third in derivatives, behind Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-02\/213a834d-8d02-44f7-af2f-71fab780b889.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Litecoin futures aggregate open interest. Source: Bybt.com<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As shown above, LTC futures aggregate open interest increased by 285% over the past three months. One should keep in mind that such an event is not necessarily positive since futures contracts require both a buyer (long) and a seller (short). Nevertheless, this increasing interest allows even more substantial players to participate. <\/p>\n<p>Another interesting development is the recent Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Ether futures contract listing serving as indication that other cryptocurrencies might follow suit soon. <\/p>\n<p>Litecoin is the third-largest holding on the Bitwise 10 Crypto Index Fund (BITW), and the assets under management in this fund recently surpassed $780 million.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-02\/3e0fb629-4cc8-44ac-b8e6-a198fae4abf7.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Grayscale investment funds holdings. These growing figures provide clear evidence of Litecoin\u2019s potential.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Longs_are_still_underwater\"><\/span>Longs are still underwater<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>By looking at daily liquidations, investors can better assess how traders have been using leverage. Unexpected price swings will tend to cause higher liquidations than those ongoing trends, such as the recent Litecoin 15% rally to $174.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-02\/18229a05-a45c-4d76-90d7-72db037e8a5a.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>LTC futures aggregate daily liquidations. Source: Bybt.com<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the chart above the largest green candle represents longs having their positions forcefully terminated on Jan. 10 as LTC price dropped 32% in 18 hours. <\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the Feb. 5 rally to $164 liquidated $56 million worth of shorts, but this is still no match to the January\u2019s $128 million bearish movement.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volume_failed_to_sustain_the_most_recent_rally\"><\/span>Volume failed to sustain the most recent rally<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Litecoin\u2019s failure to break the $186 peak from Jan. 10 was followed by a downturn in volume, which indicates a lack of interest at the current levels. LTC\u2019s total trading volume decreased by 12% over the last thirty days. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-02\/8dc139e6-eae4-4bdb-ac84-eaae0c328a1f.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>LTC spot exchanges volume, USD. Source: Coinalyze.net<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The current $584 million in futures interest open interest is substantial when matched against LTC\u2019s $980 million daily average trading volume on spot exchanges. <\/p>\n<p>From a price analysis point of view, both Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash\u2019s price action <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to lag bearish and bullish moves from Bitcoin.
