{"id":174928,"date":"2021-02-10T16:10:11","date_gmt":"2021-02-10T13:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/ny-times-defends-1619-project-creator-after-she-doxxed-reporter\/"},"modified":"2021-02-10T16:10:11","modified_gmt":"2021-02-10T13:10:11","slug":"ny-times-defends-1619-project-creator-after-she-doxxed-reporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/ny-times-defends-1619-project-creator-after-she-doxxed-reporter\/","title":{"rendered":"#NY Times defends &#8216;1619 Project&#8217; creator after she doxxed reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#NY Times defends &#8216;1619 Project&#8217; creator after she doxxed reporter<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The New York Times is defending the creator of its controversial 1619 Project after she doxxed another reporter \u2014 and then wiped her entire <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> history, including messages she had first been challenged over.<\/p>\n<p>Nikole Hannah-Jones, 44, tweeted out Washington Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium\u2019s cell number after he asked her about old tweets where she spelled out the N-word amid uproar over the ouster of a veteran Times colleague getting fired for once using the word.<\/p>\n<p>Sibarium said the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist kept his number <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronsibarium\/status\/1359206397741826053\">online for 71 hours<\/a> before deleting it \u2014 with a jokey exchange with another reporter suggesting she was aware it was up.<\/p>\n<p>He said it was \u201cmore annoying than alarming,\u201d with \u201csome <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aaronsibarium\/status\/1358982551625469955\">nasty voice messages<\/a> but nothing serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the Gray Lady defended Hannah-Jones, claiming to the Free Beacon that she had \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/media\/nikole-hannah-jones-scrubs-social-media-after-doxxing-free-beacon-reporter\/\">inadvertently posted<\/a> Aaron\u2019s number when she tweeted an email she received from him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s deleted that tweet,\u201d Eileen Murphy emailed at 9:28 p.m. Monday \u2014 just four minutes after Free Beacon last saw its reporter\u2019s number still online.<\/p>\n<p>By the next night, Hannah-Jones had not just deleted the offending tweet but her whole Twitter history \u2014 including the 2016 N-word message she had first been asked to elaborate on.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\"New York Times building \" class=\"wp-image-17284076 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/02\/nytimes-22.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/02\/nytimes-22.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/02\/nytimes-22.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/02\/nytimes-22.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/02\/nytimes-22.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2000 2000w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>A spokeswoman for The New York Times defended Hannah-Jones, claiming to the Free Beacon that she had \u201cinadvertently posted Aaron\u2019s number when she tweeted an email she received from him.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She claimed it was purely coincidental and had nothing to do with the controversy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of you may be aware, as I said this on here more than once, I auto delete my tweets at regular intervals now,\u201d she<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nhannahjones\/status\/1359301001535229953\"> tweeted Tuesday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an informal writing platform \u2014 it\u2019s called social media. My permanent work gets published in articles. I don\u2019t need to delete entire history over one tweet,\u201d she insisted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know people want to take credit for things that have nothing to do with them, but if I had already deleted a particular tweet, why would you think I\u2019d need to delete all my unrelated tweets?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m ever amused by this place,\u201d she said of the Free Beacon\u2019s report on her vanishing feed.<\/p>\n<p>Free Beacon Editor in Chief Eliana Johnson <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/new-york-times-defends-star-journalist-who-doxxed-free-beacon-reporter-on-twitter\/\">told National Review<\/a> that \u201cthe behavior and the Times\u2019s disingenuous response speak for themselves.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 1619 Project is an ongoing initiative from The New York Times Magazine that began in August 2019, the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Times says it \u201caims to<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2019\/08\/14\/magazine\/1619-america-slavery.html\"> reframe the country\u2019s history<\/a> by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.\u201d\n            <\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
