“#CNN’s Van Jones felt ‘ambushed’ by hosts of ‘The View’<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

CNN pundit Van Jones did not get the warm welcome he was expecting when he app<\/a>eared on ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View\u201d last Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe felt like they were rude, and he was completely blindsided by how they questioned him. He was not happy about how the interview went. It was unprofessional,\u201d a TV source told Page Six.<\/p>\n

Jones appeared on the show to promote his new documentary, \u201cThe Reunited States,\u201d produced with \u201cThe View\u201d co-host Meghan McCain. But the interview took an unexpected turn when the show\u2019s Sunny Hostin, and part-time co-host Ana Navarro, took Jones to task for his past association with the Trump administration. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThere are those who really accuse you of being an opportunist, a chameleon, so to speak, who provided a racial cover for former disgraced, twice-impeached, President Trump \u2026 People in the black community don\u2019t trust you anymore. What is your response?\u201d Hostin asked him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Navarro followed up by saying: \u201cYou\u2019ve lost a lot of people who trusted you, and who saw you as a voice, because of the positions you took during Trump.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019re told that McCain was also blindsided by her co-hosts\u2019 confrontational approach. <\/p>\n

\u201c[Van] expected a friendly environment, and I don\u2019t think Meghan even knew there was anything controversial about him. It was how they asked the questions that was off-putting. It was shocking how intolerant they were,\u201d the source explained.<\/p>\n

Another source told us that Jones was livid, and that he confronted producers after the segment. \u201cHe told them, \u2018I didn\u2019t expect to be ambushed,’\u201d our source said. <\/p>\n

Jones was still tweeting about the incident Monday morning. \u201cI was there to promote a film \u2026 about people listening across the lines of difference,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIronically, the need for the film was made more apparent by some of the co-hosts.\u201d<\/p>\n

But another insider familiar with the incident insisted that the guest knew about the questions beforehand, and blasted Jones for attacking Hostin and Navarro on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cProducers told him they would question him about his flip-flopping. Sunny and Ana, like many other influential voices, gave Van the chance to not only address his conflicting political positions but also his cozy relationship with [Trump],\u201d they said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that instead of addressing the very real distrust of him within the black community, Van chooses to attack two women of color via social media, hiding behind the guise of \u2018unity,’\u201d they continued. \u201cVan is taking a page from Donald Trump\u2019s playbook, whom he called the \u2018uniter-in-chief\u2019 in 2018. His exposure as a persona non grata in the black community is clearly jeopardizing his grift.\u201d <\/p>\n

A spokesperson for \u201cThe View\u201d said Jones did not complain about his appearance. \u201cThis is nonsense. None of the producers heard from Van after his appearance.\u00a0He more than held his own, and clearly you have to be ready for anything when you come to \u2018The View,\u2019\u201d they said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
